My sewing room is a total mess........

Several women here have said in the past that my sewing room is to clean!!

To do any work in so I mucked it up.......This whirlwind of messiness was after I made a couple of outfits for our grand daughters who live in Tulsa, Ok.

bearisgray 09-05-2012 01:04 PM

That doesn't even count as a slight mess! :p

Well it's a start. I admit I do need to practice the art of a messy room. .....lol I wonder if the local Vo-tech college has a course on it.

My Dad was an Navy man, our rooms had to be ship shape. Saturday afternoon was room inspection after cleaning that morning. If something was out of place according to him.....It all went out into the hall and we started all over again.
By everything...I mean beds dressers and everything in the closet. Some Saturdays 3 bedrooms full of stuff was in the hall. We live in a house that was the old Rectory for the Catholic church in town. The hall was huge....LOL

nygal 09-05-2012 01:23 PM

It looks like a nice "workable" creative space!!

It is, my husband was the one who designed my space. He built all the painted cabinets, my cutting table as well as the built in desk in the closet. And the shelf that my fabrics are on above the embroidery machine.

How wonderful of him! And, erm, I do NOT see a mess. Besides, we all know a clean house id the sign of a broken sewing machine!

QuiltnLady1 09-05-2012 02:32 PM

Love your sewing room. If my sewing room looked like that I would consider it almost immaculate. You have a really talented hubby -- he did a great job on your sewing room.

True, but I guess I am ill.

My sewing machines all work and the house is clean. LOL

Thanks, he did remodeling before he retired. So I benefit from all his creative experience.
And he gets custom made quilts and clothes. So it's a good trade off.

Agreed. You can still see the floor. Now get in there, young lady, and mess it up some more!! Throw those scraps over your shoulder like on TV.

What a lovely workspace....and Chasing Hawk you learned your lessons well....I shall now get on with my housework and lift my game in the tidying department:) Thanks for the gentle kick in the tail!

Gramie bj 09-05-2012 09:46 PM

That is not a messie room! (I do like your room) A truly messie room is one where you start to enter through the door by the lining room, stop, and decide to go through the dinning room, kitchen, and laundry room to try to get in through the mud room door. LOL Please do not ask me how I know about this! LOL

quiltsRfun 09-05-2012 09:51 PM

That's messy? I don't think so. ;)

Pickles 09-05-2012 10:08 PM

Nice sewing room but Not Messy at all;)

I tried that once. I scared the cat I think. .........lol

SunlitenSmiles 09-06-2012 03:56 AM

last winter I spent every spare minute for two weeks getting my sewing 'stash' sorted and it was a pain but so glad now....shopping in my stash is really convenient, and being able to find exactly what I need when I need it makes for more creativity, I do not have to stop and search for something. Guess I have become a convert to organization.

darlenedowns 09-06-2012 07:02 AM

ok who went in there a cleaned up your sewing room? you need to fine the guilty and have a talk with them.
and to think just as you were taking the picture is when it all happened Can you please send the bandit to my house
when you are through with him.

Jingle 09-06-2012 07:10 AM

You have a great looking sewing room. It is not messy, would only take a few minutes to right it. I have to keep my sewing room neat as I share it with four cats. I don't want them laying on my stuff messing it up. Neat is the way to go.

M.I.Late 09-06-2012 08:41 AM

You have a nice amount of storage in there. Doesn't look too hard to get back in order. Looks like fun to me.

I have a blast in there.

I would but UPS doesn't ship cats. Kola usually keeps my sewing room tidy. Because she thinks it's her room.

A messy work area drives me bonkers. I can honestly say I have never "lost" my sewing machine due to a messy room. Although I did "find" a stash of Reese's peanut butter cups in a drawer. !!!!

paulswalia 09-06-2012 09:32 AM

Sorry - nice try, but you can't join the messy quilt room club just yet. Get back to work and let us see some real mess!!! Now Go!!!

fleurdelisquilts.com 09-06-2012 02:22 PM

Is it Eleanor Burns who does that throw scraps over your shoulder stunt? I was watching Simply Quilts one day with whomever it is and got so annoyed with the crazy woman I had to change the channel. She was just trying too hard to be funny or droll or whatever. And let me tell you: my sewing room really IS a mess! No one tossing stuff into the hall in our house. Of course, we were poor as church mice and didn't have much worth tossing any where, guess that's why today I have a difficult time throwing anything away. I don't pick it up, but I'm not throwing it out either! See the logic?

OK I've looked at all 3 pics several times- with and without my reading glasses and I'm not seeing a mucked up mess anywhere. But if you do could you do me a favor----if you ever decide to visit me PLEASE give me 3wks notice....: )

caspharm 09-06-2012 06:46 PM

What mess? It looks pretty nice to me.

1screech 09-06-2012 07:20 PM

Mess...what mess???? I can destroy my room in less than 15 minutes and then I do it over and over until it is such a mess I can hardly get in to sew. This is not a mess.

Pieces2 09-07-2012 04:46 AM

It does look a little cluttered. Some organization is in order, easy to do. If you haven't used it in the last 5 years,
you probably won't use it in the next 5 years. Take these things to the resale shop. Mission accomplished.

quiltmom04 09-07-2012 06:52 AM

Are you kidding?? This is your standard of MESSY ?? Sorry - but that room is not even in the NEIGHBORHOOD of messy!! LOL!

Country1 09-07-2012 01:25 PM

If you call that a mess, can I hire you to clean and organize my 2 rooms?
Honey, I could most definitely show you what a mess is, but it would horrifying for you to see and my wonderful DH (who has OCD) would never recover from it. No joke, the 2 hobby rooms we have tares him up.
I say I know where stuff is and usually can find what ever is needed by me or him, but he is a tidy man. You want to see a clean wood shop, come on over. I can't manage a day without him, God truly blessed me with this awesome friend and husband.
Good luck and God bless,
Penny

I downsized a few weeks ago.....haha
Besides I don't have 5 years of accumulation yet. We have only been in our new house for 3 yrs. In our old house my sewing room consisted of a small desk in the kitchen and a rubber-mate tub.

stitcherlady 09-07-2012 03:54 PM

Your sewing room is still clean!!! It does not look messed up to me at all.

Yes it is! :)

Anything out of place to me is considered messy.

I give up --- Where's the mess? lol

Pat Grant 09-10-2012 05:30 AM

Looks perfectly fine to me!

Lori S 09-10-2012 05:44 AM

I think you need to have a real messy sewing room experience, so you can make a comparison! You are welcome any time to my "playroom". You can show up any time and I am sure you will have the "real" experience.

AuntieD 09-11-2012 02:32 PM

Nice looking room.
