My teensy-tiny sewing room

My sewing room is the dining room of my 1939 bungalow. It measures 8 ft x 9 ft. My son and I never used it as the dining room so I took it over. https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images...es/biggrin.png You walk from the kitchen, through the sewing room and into the living room with a side exit to the bedroom hallway.

2 metal shelving units on wheels so I can hang things on the backs and sides. Made matching fabric bins to hold all my fabric - they have different colored drawstring 'lids' so I know what type of fabric is inside each one.

Took my old ironing board, removed the broken legs and recovered it in a fun fabric. I have hooks sticking out of it so things are hung there as well - it's on the side of the same shelving unit as my matching fabric bins.

I have stuff hanging from all sides of those shelving units. On the backs are extra cutting mats and some wide fabric. My rulers hang off of hooks on the side. Every inch has to be used.

My late grandfather's sofa table is my sewing table and it barely fits on the wall under the built in cabinet. The room has a bay window so that's where my plants live.

I have RA and the coinciding brain fog. There's a power strip attached to the ironing board with a light plugged into it. If the light is on so is my iron. It's a good way to remember to turn it off. And a good way to see whilst ironing.

My great grandmother's rocker chair is in there as well. It really needs to be reupholstered because the fabric is from the 1940's and not the best of shape.

The cutting table (my old dining table) is actually in the living room cuz I had no room for it in the sewing room. My son had a humongous piece of plexiglass and put it on the table so I have a large one. Yay! Had an old wooden partitioned kitchen drawer, painted it and modge-podged fabric pieces inside, and hung it on the wall to hold my cutting table stuff.

The (dusty) peacock is Cesario - he's a pincushion. The tail feathers come off and are my pattern weights. His chest is quilted (my first attempt at FMQ https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/eek.png) and everything is held together with strong magnets.

It is nice you have so many of your family heirlooms. Your sewing room looks like a hug!

I never thought of it that way. I like it. It's a hug.

And it's my favorite room in the house.

Seems like you have maximized the space you have!

That would be my favorite room, too! Looks like it’s a functional space. I like the hooks on the ironing board you repurposed, too. Not to be a Nosy Parker but, I love the white pitcher and bowls inside your China cabinet. I collect white dish ware so that drew my eye. Thanks for sharing!

The white dishes are close to 20 years old. They're part of a dish set I got from Walmart and are called "Fruit by Gibson Designs" https://www.replacements.com/china-g...-fruit/c/28338
