New Sewing Table

1 Attachment(s)
I had been looking for a long time for a new sewing table, even though, what I had was working just fine, but I had always wanted something with more depth to it. Just a few days before Christmas 2014, My DH and I were in a used furniture store (we didn't go there to look for a sewing table) to look for an older/antique china hutch. THERE IT WAS, just what I had been looking for! The service folks had just brought it out on the showcase floor. It was a VERY NICE large executive desk with drawers on each side and no drawer in the middle, so if I want I could have an area cut out to set my machine in and install a lift for it. But it is so nice that I'm not sure I want to do that at this point. I sure do love my new sewing table. IT'S PERFECT!!!

Nice..my sewing table was also a desk...but nowhere near as nice as yours! The drawers do come in handy!

I am not sure I would want to cut a hole in that lovely desk either. I might do a cut out of the rigid foam insuluation and put it on top. Looking good!

Awesome find! I would totally cut the recess. You'll be amazed how much better your shoulders feel when your machine is a the right height.

A friend gave me a 1950's solid oak desk-she was down sizing-it measures 6ft x 3ft. It took 4 guys to move it. My brother wanted to cut it to set the machine flush and I just could not let him cut into that beautiful wood. I love it the way it is. It has 3 drawers along the top and a cabinet on both sides. I keep my rotary's-scissors and seam ripper in the middle I now know where they are at all times. And I have 2 plastic bowls to put straight and safety pins in so no more pins on the floor to step on.

Beautiful piece of furniture & your machine looks great. You may want to re-consider the idea of not cutting out a recess for your machine after you have been sewing on it for hours & your shoulders & arms start giving you grief. I completely understand about not wanting to cut a recess into that beautiful desk, though.
