We went up to Canada for expedit shelves and desk along with other assorted shelves/lights/tables etc for my new sewing room, and the day before I went, I saw grannie17's new sewing table that her son made for her, so I made one myself with my DH help and viola!
(hopefully the picture will post)

Very nice. What is the wooden thing on the fireplace? If you don't mind me being noisy.

Very nice job!

I would love to make one of these tables for my Bernina 830 machine. Can you possibly take a close up photo for me? Also, did you buy an insert for the machine or did you use the attachable table that came with the machine? Thanks for sharing with us!

pjnesler 12-06-2011 06:31 AM

Great, Thanks for sharing - someday I need somthing better than my little camp table - sturdy, but the top isn't exactly "FLAT"

craftymatt2 12-06-2011 08:04 AM

BuzzinBumble 12-06-2011 08:07 AM

Wonderful sewing table! Was it difficult to make the inset for the machine?

redpurselady 12-06-2011 11:44 AM

You go girl!!! Great job.

annthreecats 12-06-2011 11:56 AM

What a great sturdy table. I love the way you set the machine in it.

You both did a great job with the Table might just see if DH will convert one of my tables, also noticed you have the same spinning wheel as I do, cannt beat a double treadle. Still spinning this years fleeces.

Well done, looks like plenty of room for machine quilting too.

HollyDav 12-07-2011 03:54 AM

Wow, I am impressed - its a great table!

DesiG 12-07-2011 07:59 PM

I wish I. Could say my craft room was that neat, but the truth is my DH gave me a new room ( the biggest in the house) as a sewing/ craft room and not all of my stuff is in there yet. The wooden thing on the fireplace is one of my spinning wheels, a little gem by majacraft. This is my Christmas present this year! And I love it

cheri stonespinner 12-08-2011 08:09 AM

Oh is that ever a sweet sewing spot! The quilt is supported and your knee doesn't hit the cabinet leg! Tute please!

Tootsie 12-09-2011 07:30 AM

Nice! :You did a great job.

AUQuilter 12-10-2011 05:22 AM

Great table! Would you please post grannie17's sewing table? I can't find her postings. Thanks so much.

DesiG 12-10-2011 05:41 AM

Ok. I think my stupid auto spell correct changed grammy17's name. Since I don't really know how to post a link right now ( the geek husband is sleeping) I will list the name. It is called "sewing room redo" by Grammy17.
I used the Ikea ingo table, a 1x 10 piece of lumber an 2" screws. I used a jig saw to cut out the table top after marking with a pencil and then painters tape ( I was worried about cutting a straight line). Sanded everything smooth, then flipped the table over, measured and cut the 1x10 to fit right across the bottom of the table, drilled pilot holes, then screwed the shelf to the table with the 2" screws. I then drilled the hole for my knee lift through the front.
I think the hardest part was figuring out where I wanted the machine to sit, and how far back the knee lift would reach, once that was done, it took me and DH about an hour to get things done, and I did most of the work- even with my limited experience with power tools.

That turned out super, good for you guys. Nice what we learn on here isn't it?

pippi65 12-12-2011 10:27 PM

I really like it. Good job and you did it together!

Yarn or Fabric 01-07-2012 05:10 AM

That is really sweet!
If I don't take to frame quilting I am going to do the same thing with my 15" machine. Very nicely done - and it's even cooler that you did it pretty much on your own. Awesome!

Very nice space
Have a Blessed day
