One corner at a time, part 3
3 Attachment(s)
I'm a bit behind posting pics, but here's the 3rd corner. I had fat quarters on there loosely arranged by color groups. Now they are in tubs and each holds a color group. THere's one last corner that's a real challenge, but in the mean time here's where I sit to sew. Works for me!
Almost forgot the "Before" pic - the jars hold buttons, ricrac, and selveges. |
I'm doing the same thing in my combo bedroom/sewing room. All I need for sleeping is my twin bed the rest was wasted space, LOL

You have really progressed. Very nice sewing room.
|
Aw, didn't realize that you had two corners cleaned up. Now I'm really behind! lol BTW, what do you do with the selvages? and how big do you cut them?
|
Great job!!

Your space will work just fine. Like the hutch. Some years ago Martha Stewart showed how to make a sewing center that opened from a big wall cabinet.. It held the machine and sewing needs, a drop down ironing board, room for a small cutting mat.. My problem is I have tooooo much statch. I think if I would only buy what I needed for a specific pattern I wouldn't have such a mess.

Looking good!! Like the photos on the wall.
|
Maybe buy more shelving, change the name of the room to your 'sewing room'. Who neds a dining room anyway. LOL
|
I like the way you used large jars for the 'little' pieces.
|
not having seen the beginning of this "make-over", my first question is don't you have an extra bedroom that could become a "sewing room"....closets in bedrooms hold a lot of stash.......just wondering.....

Me too. I have the bedroom/sewing machine combo too. It is a challenge at times. I am wanting to change to a twin bed also but wonder if I could get used to one, after so many years of a double. I would love to see pictures of your combo room, when it is done/ |
Selveges: Don't have a specific size that I cut them. I just like the way they look in the jars and am amazed how often I go back and dig through to find out what a specific fabric was called.
Bedrooms: My bedroom closets are the tiniest things! A small bi-fold door covers the entire thing in each spare room. AND... my kids and grandkids come often enough that I don't want to take out or rearrange the furniture enough to make room for sewing. AND :) I teach piano in the living room part of that space. It's a 1970's formal living/dining room at the front of the house. I sew in the dining end and teach piano in the living room end. There's a squared off opening between the two spaces. When a piano student is running late - I'm sewing a seam. Works for me. |
