It only took me 18 months...

We moved into our house 18 months ago. We downsized quite a bit in house (upsized in land) and I lost my sewing room. It turned out to be a blessing though. We ended up doing away with our home office (we both work from laptops when home anyway) and I got the office space for my sewing area. I took me several tries to get the furniture in the right spots, but I'm finally happy with it. Oh, and it works out really well using the blinds as a 'design wall' with Wonder Clips (man, I love those things).
I'm in the process of remodeling my childhood dollhouse that inherited from my grandmother a few months ago, in case you are wondering what all that is about. My fabric is stored in the storage room, tucked away in plastic boxes. I learned last winter to put all textiles in containers after the mice made a happy little habitat in my embroidery thread. Oh the joys of the country! Please excuse my floors. Chickens live right out back. :) |
What a nice space! Great lighting. A happy place.

Looks great! Your doll house needs a teeny tiny quilt hanging off the front porch.:)
|
How nice your space looks. Mine gets all messed up with each project.
|
Nice looking, very organized space. I look forward to seeing what you create there.

First a great looking space. If you need a large design wall, my wall is very portable. I just use a vinyl flannel back table cloth with a grid and super cheap. Then I use 2-4 skirt hangers with the swivel hooks that would fit the top of your windows and attached to your vinyl tablecloth. Easily fold and store nicely.

You have an amazing space. I would die for that much natural light.

I think it looks great. The cutting table and sewing space facing each other is what I had in my previous home. It is great for when quilting that table cane also support your quilt.

What a great space!

Very homey workspace. The dollhouse is sure a cute piece of your personal history.
|
Looks lovely and cozy. I love those windows behind your sewing machine. Enjoy your space.
|
I'm glad you now have such nice space to create and sew. I think your windows are fabulous... we all need daylight and sunshine to motivate us during the winter months.
|
Nice space. It's so bright and sunny, I'd spend all my time in there.
|
I really like your new space. It looks relaxing. A nice quiet place to get some sewing done, with out interruptions!
|
Beautiful space! Love all the windows and your color scheme!
|
You've got a great sewing space. Love the doll house !! :)

Great area. Your own little corner of the world. Love the dollhouse. I made one (from a cheap kit) many years ago for my daughter (now 32), never really finished it, gave it to her. But now that I have a baby grand daughter (4 months) I would love to make her a really nice one, all furnished. I figure if I start now it will be finished maybe by the time she's 6 or 7. LOL

BTW, her name is Amy also

Love the dollhouse. I built a Victorian dollhouse for my dd when she was young (yes, did it myself :) ) It's the exact same color blue as yours with white trim. It now lives at dd's house and my 5 yo granddaughter has it in her room.

what a great idea, tessagin, thanks for sharing! this will help me as my workroom is very small, and I always am hesitant to start on projects too large. GREAT tip!

Love your sewing space...and your Dolls House is beautiful! I made this sewing room for a friends birthday. The mini quilt is just tiny scraps of her favourite fabrics! I even did a 'design wall'!! It has a frame round it and hangs in her sewing room now!

It is a beautiful space.

Such a light and happy place! Great job!
