Pegboard and Cabinets for Sewing Room

3 Attachment(s)
Here are our old kitchen cabinets that have just been sitting in the garage, took the doors off painted the outside white and painted the inside different colors. Makes it look fun in here. Am going to paint my sewing table with the same colors. Soon as I get done with the quilt I am working on. So in next couple of days I will be posting another picture. I just love my cabinets they make me happy.

Here they are empty just after painting

now here is my pegboard, use to be a whole sheet had Dh cut it in half and frame it out, The pegboard is actually pink with the frame a burgundy color

I have a question for everyone with a pegboard, what all do you put on yours?

That is a nice piece of work there! I don't have a pegboard but I seen most use it to hang scissors and even their rulers and rotary cutters.

Prim Quilts 05-01-2014 03:58 AM

That is going to be awesome!

DebraK 05-01-2014 04:04 AM

they're great for hanging rulers, scissors, large cones of thread.

Good repurpose for cabinets, They look new. On my peg boards you will find rulers, rotary cutters, scissors, embroidery hoops, temples, pattern's, lint rollers, small baskets that hold bobbin's and other things needed or my LA and just about anything else with a hole in it that a hook will fit through.

Mostly I have my rulers hanging above my cutting table, but I also hang my rotary cutters, scissors, and a plastic pocket protector with a couple of pencils and marking pens.

Great recycling idea! We're about to start our kitchen remodel. I was planning to donate the cabinets to the Restore but now I may think about keeping a few for myself.

Love your sewing room and the colors you used on your cabinets. Thanks for sharing.

Anything and everything I want in site. I have a long peg holder I hang my scissors on, samr with rotary cutters. A lot of my small stuff that I'd forget or have a hard time finding in a drawer

sewmom 05-02-2014 06:25 AM

I bought 2 of the plastic pegboard squares from Walmart. One is hung by my sewing machine and I hung all my embroidery hoops on the long hooks. I wrapped the hooks in fabric scraps so my hoops wouldn't get scratched. The other one I hung on a different wall to hang my rulers on- again I wrapped the hook with scrap strips. I wish I had more wall space to spread the rulers out more, but for now it's fine. The pegboard squares have the spacer built in on the back so you can just screw them to the wall and they are ready to go. Unfortunately they are black.

I use my peg board to hold everything: rulers, blades, marking pencils, etc. Soon, you won't know how you ever managed to do without it. Beautiful solution to your storage.

I organize my rulers using the peg hooks, hang my scissors and rotary cutter and anything else I need in easy reach.

love your cabinets. those pretty cabinets will make your room be such a pleasure to work in.

i love my pegboards. i also painted mine and i hang my embroidery hoops over my embroidery machine, and gadgets that are small and easily misplaced that relate to each machine over that machine. i also like to hang up something new that i haven't tried out yet (like a new foot) so that i see it all the time and remember to test it out.

Country1 05-04-2014 06:22 PM

Like it alot!

Got Quilts 05-05-2014 09:46 AM

Very nice! I dream of being that organized!

QuiltnLady1 05-05-2014 07:42 PM

On pegboard, I hang shelves (home depot has the supports but I got the white shelves from Lowes), scissors, thread (there are all kinds of hooks that fit in the pegboard), the round thingy that holds bobbins, rulers, bags of squares, templates, and then there are the little bins and jars. I have double hooks, single hooks, long hooks, short hooks. I looked at the accessories first and then asked DSIL to put pegboard on the walls. I can move everything around when something does not work.

I love the way you painted your cabinets. I love peg boards. I hang everything on mine. Threads, rulers, patterns, tape, etc.

SewExtremeSeams 05-07-2014 09:08 AM

The cabinets look soft, restful and inviting. Hope you enjoy!

TerrimB 05-15-2014 06:22 AM

I don't have one yet, but I would get pegs or narrow but long wire baskets to hold thread. Mine is currently living in a plastic bag, drives me crazy when they unravel and tangle. But agree with others, scissors( as long as you don't have little ones who like to use them for nefarious reasons) rulers, stencils, binder clips to hold patterns or a file folder hung on the wall for that. Looks awesome!! Great job!
