Purging....accomplished!
6 Attachment(s)
After spending 2 weekends working on my sewing room purging fabric scraps and yardage that I will never use, i think that I am done! I removed one folding table that hid a few of those rolling plastic 3-drawer units. I took the table down and replaced it with the bookcase. I used the large Closet Maid fabric drawers to store the fabric that I am keeping. They hold a lot! The bookcase opened up an additional 13" of floor space, too. I feel like I can breathe now!
sorry for the duplicate photo. sandy |
Well done you!

congratulations to you! I've been doing that but it is so daunting and it isn't getting done. In the meantime I can't get any sewing done and have been walking around stacks everywhere.
|
I have been cleaning in mine too. have not taken any pictures yet, I am sending some of my stash that I won't use to some people who have requested/are in need of fabric, esp if newbies and for some special fabrics. Have quite a lot upstairs I need to get to also.

It does get to the point where I am immobilized looking at my piles, etc and I have to regroup before starting a new project.
|
Looks great..

What a beautiful space! You did a great job.
|
You did a wonderful job!!!!
|
Looks great; and that stained glass piece in the window...I have one either just like or very similar to it that I made before I got into quilting. Mine is shades of red.
|
Great job! It always makes the space seem bigger when you can store upwards rather than outwards.
|
Isn't it wonderful to feel so freed? I am getting there too... slowly but surely!
|
Looks like a calming space.

Looks great to me, I think I see a 9500 Janome there. I have that machine, use it a lot. I had just cleaned my closet and reorganized it. Fabric was falling out everywhere. It does feel good to clean up.

Congrats! Feels great doesn't it-? :)

I have been making my scraps into quilts and am still doing it. I made 7 last year an 6 so far this year. I have lots and lots of fabrics and I will keep it all and try to use it up. It is all very neat and behind closet doors. After I go to the big quilt room in the sky, my Daughter and Granddaughter can do whatever they want with it. Until then I am finishing one quilt and immediately starting another.
Your room looks perfect for you. |
Congrats to you! It takes real guts to get stash out of the house:D. Much easier to get it in!

Feels great, doesn't it? Congrats!

You did a great job. We all have to make the best use of what we have. My sewing room is not very big but it works for me and I have to keep it all under control. It doesn't spill out into the rest of the house. I'm sure most of us have way more than we can ever use... :)))))

Liberating isn't it?

I love that flower is it a painting or a piece of fabric? I have four large flowers but they are fabric on a stretcher bar. They look really great as does yours!
|
Wow looks great!

Would you like to come to my house...PLEASE!!!! lol
|
What a lovely, tranquil workplace. Really nice.
|
Lovely space! Hope to straighten my space up, too. Love the yellow hibiscus.

My daughter is coming with a friend today for sewing. She wants to start Christmas sewing......and to help use my "Christmas stash". HA!!!

Beautifully charming room. You are an inspiration! I've recently cleaned my sewing room, but nothing more than putting things back in place. I really need to let go and purge quite a bit of "stuff" . Thanks for sharing the job well done.

I am in the "heat of battle" right now. It's an almost overwhelming project. it has taken 18 years to get to this mess. I'm not going to get it done quickly. I know it will be worth it and hope my room looks as good as yours! Congratulations!
