That’s convenient and you are fortunate to have it close and handy. Unfortunately I have two sewing machine cabinets that face each other in the middle of the room and my design wall is not close.

of course! Yes, put instructions there. I actually have a cork board in my sewing area near my machine that I just put up things i like to look at.
