Thanks for the suggestions! We’ve completed one cabinet. The second will be done Monday. We had a missing bolt but he has plenty. Next up is a trip to Home Depot for supplies. The cart shouldn’t take more than 2 weeks.

As for the desk, I’m debating between a 24-inch drop leaf (60 x 48 total) or 36-inches (60 x 60 desk). Should I go for the extra space?

You must be "sew" excited on your progress. Please show us pictures when you can. What fun to customize your table and desk to your needs.

Yes, go for the extra space. It will fill up quickly.

Go for the bigger space if u have the room for it. Ull be amazed at how much ull use it. Better bigger than regret after the fact

I was a little sore when I finished the second Ikea cabinet. The hammer drill is heavy due to the battery pack. I felt it later in my back! Thanks for the suggestions. I’m going to use the larger leaf if possible. Quilting and home decor projects will be a lot easier.

How big of a quilt do you want to make?

I love to hand quilt but haven't done much lately. But that is about to change. The quilt in my Avatar is a hand quilted King size quilt. I used a large Hoop to complete this one. I also have a nice frame that I use from time to time and it doesn't really take up that much space. I find the hoop more portable I like to lay in bed and watch TV while quilting. I can relax with DH that way. I will baste a large quilt using quilting tacks by glue basting. Each works great for hand quilting. I find pins cumbersome. I have made a large number of quilts this way. Best of luck to you.

I do it in my garage or in my office.

I think first of all it depends on what the exact size of the king size quilt is. I think that the garage is a very common place for this, since you can do all the work on the quilt there. You can hardly do this right in your apartment. I have a small office that I rent from osdoro.com.sg in order to do a little work for the business, so that no one distracts me and I can say that there is enough space to work with quilt. I can do this during my one-hour break. Anyway, it distracts me from my work and lets my brain relax. It may be a bit of an unusual place, but why not?
