Re do sewing room

We bought some new shelving for my sewing room, I had no idea how much fabric I had crammed into my other system. This lets me see what I have and will help keep me motivated to use up all this wonderful fabric.

Wow looks great - kinda like having your own little quilt shop! 😊

That is what I call organized. I love to see neat and tidy fabric organization. Now you can enjoy playing with them and creating new projects!

You are so tidy in your sewing room I love the way you placed your fabrics. It would never work for me as I have so much fabric! Great job at the organization.

Looking good! You might want to cover the front of the cubbies so the fabric doesn’t fade on the folds.

Good idea! I saw several bolts of fabric faded like that in a quilt shop once. It was not exposed to direct sunlight, either.

Great redo. I always admire the look of the pictures on this forum of closets and shelves that have the fabric color coordinated and displayed by stacking or wrapping and standing, they always look so inspiring and beautiful. My house is to dusty (woodstove and dirt road) to leave my fabric uncovered, so my fabric is organized by themes (batiks, christmas, flannel, then by colors) in plastic bins with covers so I am able to sew without constantly sneezing. Enjoy your new space your fabric storage cubes look great!!!

That’s what I was thinking too...now you can easily pull from your assortment of wonderful colors. I also like your sign “the best moms get promoted to nanas”

Very pretty! The only drawback is possible fading. I bought out my sister's stash and she had it all displayed like that in a back room for 6-7 years, and then boxed it all up and put it away and it was probably ten years after that, that I took it.

There was a lot of fabric damage along the exposed fold where it had faded and is some cases the fabric had deteriorated. After going through all that (about 300 yards total) I decided I'd never leave my fabric exposed, though it is so pretty to be able to see it! I've kept it in a room with a very dark shade and put curtains over the shelves that I could pull aside to view what I had.

Great looking space. Organizing fabric like you did will really help when you are looking for fabrics for a new quilting project.
