Re-organizing the Organized

3 Attachment(s)
I had organized my sewing room after months of it being in chaos. Everything was put into drawers by color. Smaller items were placed in plastic boxes and put on the bookshelf. Even the kitty condo had a place.

Problem was, the organization left me feeling stuffed behind the desk, kitties on my cutting table and no creative energies flowing. So I redid it!

Plastic drawers have been moved across the room by the windows. Kitty condo was reassembled ON TOP of them. They are loving it and no kitties on the cutting table!! I'll be putting some heavy dark fabric on the sides of the bins exposed to the windows to prevent fading.

Got all the boxes on the bookshelf!

Got rid of the desk and bought a folding table and set up a combine sewing and cutting area. I'm not boxed in anymore. Just need one of those plastic mats for under my chair.

I've even got Floor Space!!!!!

Can you tell I'm a Snoopy fan? This is only a small part of my collection, lol

Looks great. I bet the kitties are loving their sunny and high perches. You were so sweet to think of them.

I love the primary colors. That has to be so uplifting in your room. Great looking space.

Your room is so right and cheery. Organization is in the eye of the beholder. Good for you for figuring out what makes your creative juices flow!

The woodend bookshelf? I built that about 8 years ago. 6ft tall. 9 ft wide 1ft deep.

Lookin good....

Very great sewing room. You may want to put something to block the sun from the side of your plastic drawers. I'm just thinking the sun may fade or ruin the fabrics in them. Just my first thought. Use maybe a thin luan sheet cut to fit between the sides of the drawers and the kitty condo.

The room looks great and make sure you get the fabrics covered by the window asap. I have an apron on display at a consignment shop. Owner put it in the window. When I visited a few weeks later, it had faded from the sun so bad, I couldn't sell it.

And glad the kitties have a space to keep you company. My doxie comes to visit me when I'm sewing but my sewing desk is in front of the window so he can't see outside (which he loves to look out around the neighborhood). I'd love to have him keep me company in my room. I see a re-organizing project in my near future :-)

Nice! Now you have yours organized and out of anything to do, LOL, you can come and do mine anytime you want. LOL

kbonafede 02-20-2012 10:51 AM

I love love love your room. I would be very comfortable with all of that "color" stimulating me to create something new. It's perfect.... I applaud you for re-doing it to make it work....again....for you!! How on earth did you manage to create so much organization with drawers, bins, bookshelves.....and put all of your supplies into organized, colorful, easy-to-reach spaces? That took a lot of thought!! You are a genius.
