Sewing/Scrapbook room

6 Attachment(s)
I got a new machine last week. The Janome 4120. And so we rearranged my craft room. We had to put in another table to hold it, because it is a dual sewing scrapbooking space, I always had to put one away to work on the other, but we started using our noggins and came up with this... We are looking at new tables, but this black one works fine for now, it's solid and sturdy.

I have two islands, on one I cut fabric, and the other I have my cricut, gypsy and paper cutter. I store my paper stackers underneath. I have a walk in closet, my dh put shelves from floor to ceiling, and one side is for Scrapbook tools and supplies and the other is my fabric stash area. It's still in transition. LOL. My wrapping and framing stuff is also in there.

Yes, you are seeing twins on the wall, I've got two I Spy tops ready to go to the quilter and two on the table being worked.

The cubicles are for scrapbook stuff, As is the long banguet table, but I like being able to use it to lay out quilts and fabric too. And, I do keep my "Classic" movie collection in there as I like to pop one in to the DVR when I am in there working. I'll have more room when I get my new sewing table. :) We live in the country and the window looks out over our backyard, the inground pool and the woods behind our house. It's peacful when I sew.

Thanks. Having a walk in closet with shelves helps alot. I can keep everything away except what I am actually working on.

I wrap my fabric on foam core, my FQ's are all stacked in an open bin on the shelf, and I even put my washed pressed fabrics I am currently cutting on hangers and hang them up so I can get to them at a glance. My scraps are in a clear container on a shelf too.

All of my quilt books are in there, and the albums/refills I am working on or going to in the future on the "Scrap" side. Pictures that are printed waiting to be scrapped are filed on a shelf and the ones that are done are in photo boxes.

Wow, so nice and neat! Very pretty!

I love all the color from the quilts and the mask on the wall! I do the same thing, watching old moves while I sew. I get DVDs for 25 or 50 cents at Goodwill.

It's in the walk in closet... DH put shelves from floor to ceiling on each side, once side holds fabric, quilt books, batting, etc, the other side is for Scrapbook stuff. I don't have a big stash really...

GailG 09-12-2012 08:46 PM

What size is your room. I cross-craft too. Scrapbooking and quilting. Have lot of leftovers of old projects that I don't do anymore. My room is 12 x 12 and very overloaded. I don't have a walk-in closet, but I have a very generously sized closet that takes up most of one wall. It even has two huge drawers at the floor (it was the kids toy drawers, then their shoe drawers). You inspire me to try and make a difference in my cave.

Blinkokr 09-13-2012 06:52 AM

WOW - Just a wonderful space, great job and thank you for sharing, could you please tell all of us out here how you keep it so neat? LOL
Have a Blessed day
Ellen

What size is your room. We have just moved into a new (to us) home and I am trying to organize my sewing/crafting room.

kensington 09-13-2012 01:24 PM

My craft room is 10X12. The walk in closet is 4x4.
My shelves are full. My room is neat because I obsess... LOL. I have to clean up every night before I go to bed. I clean the floor every few days of threads and scraps too. When it's a mess... is when I scrap book. WOW... I'll take a pic of that some time. But, mostly, since I have storage I like, and the islands, it's pretty easy to keep up. Everything in it's place. Supplies, tools, books, fabric. I don't have a ton of fabric. And I sort and clean out a lot. It's a habit.

Judyqnb 09-20-2012 06:12 PM

Oh my goodness what a wonderful room. Very very nice.

girlsfour 09-21-2012 12:34 PM

Nice room - I would to have that room along with everything in it!!

sewbeadit 09-25-2012 04:42 PM

If my room looked like that I would never mess it up! Congrats on your new machine, it looks wonderful.

cowgirlquilter 10-06-2012 08:59 PM

Wow I love how you have it both scrapbook and quilting friendly!!

laney2 10-15-2012 07:12 PM

Beautiful room,,I also like scrapbooking..My daughter made a scrap book on the computer for both my husband and myself starting from our birth till we graduated from college on Mixbook.com..

GailG 10-19-2012 03:21 AM

What a great room! Just what I need. What has struck me is that in your room as well as in others that I've seen on this board are the triangular folded United States flags....either in honor of or in memory of a military loved one. God bless those servicemen and women and their families, and God bless the USA!

Later: Well, is my face red?! I've just gone back to read the other posts and find that I have already posted in this thread. At least it isn't redundant.
