sewing space

My friend's DH made her a storage unit for her sewing area. She has half of a room; there is also a tall dresser and a full size bed. He used a bathroom vanity for under her cutting area and attached the other end of a piece of plywood to the wall using a cleat on the wall. He raised the vanity to cutting table height by adding feet and added a shelf underneath. Then he put in long shelves. She has a desk for her sewing machine.

Sweet!! I would love to have walls! I sew in an attic room with slanted ceilings. Cozy...but it is not conducive to puttin shelves on the wall .

Please tell us about those baskets. Are they the ones you can make from newspaper? Or are they like rag rugs that you braid. I like the looks of them.

Thanks for sharing. I just love to see how others have organized their sewing rooms. The smallest detail can give us ideas!

Very clever! Half a room is better than no room. I know it makes her happy!!

Boy, that sure was a clever use of the vanity! I'll have to show this to DH! Thanks for posting.

I took over the guest bedroom and set up my sewing area. Very small and cramped until Hubby finish building my detached shop

Very nice use of the cabinet, love it, and those baskets are just too cute.

I have in attic room also. I hang shelves from cup hooks with salvage ties. Put small piles on shelves till ready to be put in bins, more convenient.

Pretty sewing area. Mine has no decor LOL. As my friend said "it looks like a workman's space. Hmmmm . . . I guess that's what it is.

Oh, that would be hard for me, Sandy. I have all my smaller cuts of fabric on wall shelves in plastic boxes. It's so nice because it gives me tons of storage without taking up wall space.
