size of boards

I just bought some foam board yesterday and I am getting ready to cut it. I was wondering what size to cut them. I am especially interested in what size you cut your width.

I cut my foam board 5" X 12" or 6" X 12". I folded my fabrics in half lengthwise which made it 11" X length of fabric. I found if I was wrapping fabric 2 yds or more than I preferred the 6" board over the 5" board.

I saw somewhere to cut them 10 x 71/2 . So thats the size I cut mine. But I also measured the depth of my dresser drawer and cut some to fit in there.

Haven't cut mine yet but I read somewhere if you cut a 30 x 20 piece at 6 x 10" you get 10 from one piece ... but I'm concerned this isn't tall enough. I haven't been able to come up with any other size that doesn't waste a good bit of the foam board. I will be interested in seeing what everyone else does.

I cut mine 10 X 12 The 10 fits the depth of my shelves well and the 12 fits the height well with a little left over in case I need it for something wider

How about 6 x 12?

I cut mine about 8.5 x 11. I make my first cut length wise of the board and cut off about 8.5 inches and then I cut two boards from that section. I cut three 8.5 inch widths from the other piece and I get one that's about 5 inches wide. I'll go check and see if DG has more and take a couple of pictures.

I actually measured the boards and they're 8 x 12. I marked one of the Dollar General boards so you can see how I cut them. I don't normally mark them like that, I just make a pencil tick mark along the edge. I'm going to give the square to my daughter in law for her home school crafty stuff. If you cut them in half they'd probably work really well for wrapping strings on.

I like 6''x10'' that fits my shelf the best.
