Small apt = Small sewing corner!

I am not a newbie in the sewing world. but a big newbie to the quilting world. my dilemma is I just got married and we are starting out in a extremely small Apt. (390 sq. to be exact). so I basically have my little tiny corner where my sewing table is. I am a creative person so I have alot of stuff.

I am on a mission to organize this corner. So does anyone have creative ideas on how to store stuff in containers or on the wall?? after i get this organized i will definatly be doing a before and after pic!

Welcome to the board! Will your landlord let you attach things to the wall? Some won't.

All the designers say if you don't have a lot of space, go up. How about clear shoe size plastic containers on shelves attached to the wall all the way to the ceiling? I use them myself and they work great. When we were first married and had a small apartment, we did one shelf about a foot from the ceiling all the way around the room. Worked like a charm.

There are lots of ideas on the forum and on the internet here's one site, but now that webshots isn't free, many of the links aren't connecting. http://www.younge.com/sewing%20rooms.htm Good luck & have fun!

I live in a small one bedroom apartment, and it wasn't easy to figure it out, and yes I went up.. Ceilings are 10 feet. I bought ten sweater containers. I folded , and labelled all that went into them, and it looks pretty nice.. You could also put the containers under the bed. I could also use my computer desk. I have a 6 foot piece of wood with four legs. I bought it at IKEA. I could also stack eight of the containers side by side if I got rid of the dog house.. I cut at a table across the room, but I could also cut sitting on the couch with a mat on the cocktail table.. Anyway, necessity is the mother of invention. Have fun, and be creative.

Welcome, you have come to the right place. The members here are creative and you'll always find great ideas and links to other sites. You know by now you can only go up. Stackables of course, shelving too. Keep in mind the shoe bags that are vinyl and go over the door, they can hold lots of big and little items. Also, to keep holes in the wall to a minimum, put up a long piece of wood, like a furring strip and then put the hooks into that. Good luck, can't wait to see your pics.

If you have the room, I would buy heavy duty bookcases and fill a corner with them. One on each side, they would hold alot.

Put up lots of shelves, if you can't go horizontal, go vertical. Organization for sure.
