Strip Storage
While wandering the aisles of one of the big box stores today, I came across Sterilite Adjustable Ornament Storage boxes. If I hadn't recently purchased Art Bin's strip storage boxes, I'd use the Sterilite ones for sure for my 2.5" strips! They have fixed dividers that are 3" wide; I'd leave the dividers meant for inserting as needed off.
http://www.target.com/p/sterilite-ad...nament+storage (I was actually at WM, but dont see a pic on their website. They were about $9 each) The Art Bin ones I have: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...=sr_1_1&sr=8-1 On sale now at Joann's: Sterilite's Stack and Carry in the 4-layer small size for thread and scraps. (Sorry, couldn't find a picture on line.) It is deeper than the Snap Ware layered box I previously used. Aurifil threads, which is what I use most and buy in bulk when on sale, doesn't fit upright in the Snap Ware ones. Snap Ware also has ornament storage containers that you can leave the cross pieces out of for strip storage. |
Looks like it would be great storage. Thanks for sharing..

Walmart sells these storage containers: http://www.walmart.com/ip/ArtBin-Ess...4-x-3/25394016 They don't have a handle but store nicely and hold 12 1/2" unfinished blocks.
Michaels also sells something similar. http://www.michaels.com/10331371.html I have some of both and really like their prices...much less than most other places. |
yes, awesome idea... thank you for posting pictures too.

I use long thin boxes that came with tapers (candles) in it. I have them in a closet so they don't have to be sealed. I try to save all my strips laying straight and flat so I don't have to be ironing everything before I can start cutting. No strips dropped into grocery bags for me! I can flip through the folded edges to find the one I want.

Good idea. This is the only time in my life I am grateful for big honking feet. The large cardboard boxes they come in are really handy for storing all my strips. I have quite a few so I am able to divide them into different widths. Not as nice as yours, but the price is right.
