What size Comic Book Boards are best for fabric storage?

Hi...I'm going to start storing my fabric on Comic Book Boards, but am wondering which size is the best for fabric storage? Thanks!

I didn't know they came in more than 1 size. I ordered some and wrapped my larger pieces, then cut some smaller and wrapped smaller pieces!

I used the 8 1/2 by 11 for short length's of fabric...1 yd to 3 yrds. Bought 8 1/2 x 11 foam boards from ULine to pick larger lengths on. I absolutely love the results of this way to store. You can see immediately what you have and avoid purchasing something new when you had something that will do. Got the suggestion from this blog and am very happy with it.

I order mine through Hobbies Depot from Amazon and there is only one size. I think mine are about 8x10 approximately. If I'm putting 1/2 yd cuts on one...I fold it so I can get the first half yd on the top half and the second fabric on the lower half of the board; otherwise, I feel I would be wasting a board. Hope that's clear. You'll love the way your fabrics look after you've organized them. :)

I purchased the 6 3/4 x 10 1/2 and the 7 1/2 x 10 1/2 from 2 different comic book stores. I was happy with the way the 6 3/4 worked with the fabric. Besides the 7 1/2 size was almost twice as much as the 6 3/4" size. That made my decision easier.

Here's a link to a thread I started. It contains pictures and great opinions.

I think it was well worth the $20 I spent on the boards. I can see all my fabrics in 2 bookcases that I picked up at a garage sale for $2.50 each~!

Good luck

I just ordered the comic boards - I order the 7x101/2 and the 81/2 by 11. I like the larger for cuts over 2 yards. I think I will order the 6 3/4 x 10 1/2 for the smaller pieces next time. I have used over 1/2 of the 7 x 10 1/2 pack and will be ordering more.

I really like the way I can store the fabric, either in my bookcase, in drawers, or in containers, I can see the fabric without having to pull everything out in the floor and I can store more in the areas than I could when I just folded the fabric and laid it on the shelve or in a drawer.

I found comic boards in the Portland, OR area, at Thing From Another World in Milwaukie,OR.
I am not affiliated with them in any way.

Hi, I am in the process of organizing my fabric stash and I bought the 8 1/2" x 11". They are working out great. I got mine from a Comic Book Store here in Henderson where I live. I paid $11 for 100. I purchased 300 boards and have wrapped 250 in 2 days. Kept me pretty busy!!!

I have fabric for making clothes that is 54" or 60" wide. What size board would work with them?
