Not sewing things, but my cooking spice assortment looks better after yesterday. I found out I had duplicates of a few things.

Tranum, I can relate - I actually took a few minutes to write the names on the top of my spice and herb jars so that I can identify them without playing 'reverse whack-a-mole' going through the drawer. Such a small thing, but already one I wish I'd done earlier!!!

Yesterday I decided to tackle my scrap bucket--- still have some to work on today, but at least it's no longer overflowing LOL! Mostly it was pieces that I just needed to put in my scrap drawers, but there are some batting scraps to be chopped up for pillow stuffing, and some odd bits to be put in with scarf making.

I want to spend the rest of the day finishing up a few UFO placemats that I discovered when I reorganized my UFO storage.

oksewglad: Congratulations on getting the fitted sheets and plastic bags out of the church quilting room. Excited for your group’s progress. I have been finding plastic bags in various places in my house that I forgot about so most of them are going to the recycling bin at a local grocery store.

No organizing for me today. I spent the day with 2 great nephews. It’s fun watching the Kindergartener sing songs and follow the teacher’s directions through distance learning. He sure was wiggly today though. 😊.

Today I’m going to spend some time dealing with the craftermath of a journal making session. Hopefully I’ll be able to get it organized and put away fairly quickly. The joy of having spent years (literally) organizing my quilting studio and my general purpose studio is that I now have places to put most (but not all) things.

I should have taken photos before I started on this journey way back when because at one point, both of my studio spaces looked like British painter Francis Bacon’s studio. If you get a chance, look him up and you will see some photos of his studio- it looks like a giant trash dump because he apparently just kept piling things one on top of another. Anyway, this is just to say, if I can dig out from under, then I know that y’all can too.

So, once I’m done putting things away, I want to get the placemats that I quilted earlier this week bound.

Rob: I have enjoyed following your journey into organization and it has inspired me to keep going through things.

My main cleaning/organizing goal is a minimum of 30 minutes in my office today. I also plan to put away items from yesterday’s project in a downstairs ‘bed/toss into’ room. I need to take some time to start going through the 6 bags and a box of quilting fabric that was given to me from my church group. I glanced quickly through it yesterday and know there are some nice fabrics in the bags.

I’ve really enjoyed reading and seeing everyone’s progress, I always learn something new! While I thought I had finished my organizing earlier this year i was wrong! I accidentally sold my longarm, and when I replaced it, I had to rework what I had stored underneath it. I was very happy with the success of my Etsy store and sold 98% of what I had listed, it was great to move out all that stuff! I got all my digital patterns organized and I’m pleased that I have continued to be vigilant about keeping them that way. Now I'm working on the digital organization of my longarm patterns, I think this will be far more challenging and would welcome any and all suggestions!

Great to hear everyone's progress! I have decided, pretty much out of nowhere, that it would be better if I stored my fabric by colour rather than by size. There are some exceptions - Halloween fabric and Christmas fabric are currently separate and will stay that way, but for my 'general' fabric I think it might be easier on my brain to do the intuitive thing rather than go with what I thought was the logical one... Panchita, I have organized by color and, on a whim, a couple of years ago decided to organize by size...what a mental disaster for me! The first thing I look for is color and then see if I have enough of it, so trying to find by color in a sized organization system was too time consuming and frustrating. So I'm back to color organization other than "specialty" fabrics.

I took over a bookcase and now it is fabric chunk shelving. Organized by color not size. Makes it easier for me to see what I have and make do. Each shelf has three colors and looks so pretty until I start to dig thru it trying to find just the right color....lol
