Wesing, great job on organizing your Christmas stash. It looks tidy...

Rob, you gave me a good idea...I too, need to organize my machine accessories, mostly for the two Janome machines that I don’t use as often. My Bernina sits in a sewing studio so most of the accessories are in the drawer but the accessories to my other two machines are sort of discombobulated.

Wesing- welcome to the thread, great job getting those fabrics under control!

Teen- I do have 1 door next to my main piecing machine and I have a spare organizer, so yes, I could definitely use that space. And, my vintage machine that I use for making rope bowls , etc. is up against another door so I can put an over door organizer there too if I move some quilts I’ve got stored there. No other walls that aren't taken-up by either my design wall or windows and doorways (no more doors since it’s actually a super wide archway between the guest room and the trunk room that I use for my office and part of the quilting studio. Going to put those over door hangers to use as soon as I get into the studio this morning! Yay! And thanks for the suggestion!

I’m pleased to report that I got the tree taken down yesterday and all the ornaments stored away. Just need to put the tree back up in the attic!

Finally bit the bullet and organized the three 3 ring binders that were full of pages of pic of quilts, patterns printed from the internet, and cheat sheets for making special blocks w/o special rulers ( HST, HSR, no waste flying geese, etc) some in page protectors and some not. This project was almost as bad as organizing my fabric!

Well, now I have binders for instructions for quilts I've already made, quilts that I want to make soon, quilts that are on my to do list for later, patterns/pic of quilts that, unless I change my mind, just may make some day, and a pile of "WHAT WAS I THINKING?".

Wish the quilt guild was still meeting. They would probably take all my "left overs."

Test drove secretary chairs at Office Depot and Costco. Found a great chair, $50.00 less, at Costco. No arms, great lumbar support, correct depth for seat, and speedy wheels. Only problem I foresee is seat is fabric and just may be a thread magnet!

(Confession: Towards the end I just grabbed the last 15 sheets and just stuffed them into a binder. I was tired and I was interested in the football game.)

Julienm1, maybe as bad as organizing your fabrics but at least now you’ve accomplished the task ...you deserve a star 🌟

Rob, I’m glad you finally were able to put Christmas away, now you can sew without it hanging over your head.

We recently had new carpet installed in the guest bedroom (really it's my sewing room). Since everything was cleared out, hubby painted the room for me. Little by little, I've moved in some of the furniture. So I am really trying to have more room for sewing! I've got fabric stored in bags and tubs. I am going to purge some stuff, I don't need. Maybe sell some of it. I ordered under bed storage containers so my closet isn't so bulky. Potential guests may like hanging their clothes in there LOL Unfortunately for me, I have the smallest room in the house. I will surely be reading everyone's ideas because I want to get as much space as I can to do my projects.

Jmoore- for some reason taking down the tree always seems like a bigger job than it actually is https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images...es/biggrin.png. Did you get your machine accessories organized?

goldsberry921- welcome to this thread!

Rob

Welcome goldsberry921, sounds like you have a good idea to get you going. Purging fabric is always a tough chore.

No Rob, I have been sharing my sewing room with DH for Zoom meetings this week as he prefers to use my IMac 🖥 over his IPad so he can see the participants better. Today should be his last meeting for the month and he’s outta there. LOL

Christmas tree has always been a conflict here. We celebrated 50 yrs in 2020. So last year I donated our tree and will never have another that I can't do myself. To get it down, I'd plan a party and cleaning up was essential.

Welcome, goldsberry921! Have fun organizing your newly updated sewing area.

Rob: I’m glad you got your tree put away.

petthefabric: I decorated more this year but I haven’t had a big tree for maybe 9 years. I did purchase a 4’ tree this year for something in addition to my ceramic tree and my other decorations.
