Yes, i have a date with dearest oldest son!!!!!!!

We sold our house in May and I retired in June. Everything and I mean everything has been in storage since June. May 14 was the last time I was able to quilt. We moved to our beautiful place in Wyoming that does not have a home on it, but 41 acres. Been living in the fifth wheel all summer and fall. We are building our home in sections. First section thanks to DS and DH is the kitchen and sitting room with a 12 x 24 studio off of it. With just the three of us it has been a slow process. Well guess what? Next weekend DS and I are moving all and I mean ALL my studio items into my beautiful new studio. I am so excited. I figure by the 10th of Dec. I will have everything unpacked and in its special place. I am so excited. Have so missed sewing.

So exciting! and so happy for you! I can't imagine building a house in the winter or living in a 5th wheeler during a Wyoming winter. You and your family are certainly adventurous.

How wonderful!

mustangquilts 11-24-2014 04:23 AM

It has been exciting and tons of fun. Been great having DS come over every week to help out. DH found out there are tons of things he can do that he thought he couldn't do. I even learned to tape and texture walls. I just so want to start quilting again.

sharin'Sharon 11-24-2014 01:18 PM

Congratulations for your patience. You will so enjoy your new studio and a nice sized one, too!!! I started out with an 8x8 sewing room in 1990 and was so happy with THAT, but oh, my goodness....I grew out of that in the last few years with the purchase of two new sewing machines and a whole lot of notions and various multi-crafting supplies; have fabric stored in a spare bedroom and my quilting frame is pushed into the corner of the 'old playroom' that is waiting to be renovated (need to tear down plaster and replace with sheet rock and put in a laminate floor). The 'old playroom' is 14x15 and by the time I set up the 10 foot frame, I should have sufficient space for shelving, an ironing board and a cutting table. Many of my drawer totes and pegboard can remain in the 8x8 room cuz the rooms are only a doorway apart. Will be anxious to see pictures sometime. Thanks for sharing.

Sounds good. I hope it's plenty warm for quilting.

A DS is the best, miss ours so much since 2001, so pleased your DS is with you to help.
Happy sewing/quilting--finally, then to show us what you create.

vondae 11-25-2014 01:21 AM

I bet you will be doing a happy dance all over those 41 acres. I am celebrating with you. Woo Hoo!!!!

Kris P 11-25-2014 04:46 AM

Owning acreage is our dream. Only wish it was attainable while our children are still young and could benefit from growing up in a rural setting. My DH and I are both from the country, but our careers have led us to the city. We are now waiting for our girls to graduate from school in order to move out of the city. The schools they attend now are top notch and we don't want to disturb their educations.

I go into withdrawal if I go a while without quilting. Congratulations on your retirement and your new home.
