Mine's in a large cardboard box with another one filling up sitting on top of the 1st one. Yes they do seem to procreate when we're not looking.

I use my scraps for making crazy squares and when I have enough I make a quilt and donate it to a family that has had a fire. The quilt group that I am a member do this as well. A good way to use scraps.

That's a good idea. Just toss them in as you go. When you have time they will be waiting for you to turn into a nice scrappy quilt. They even may start calling out your name!

I sort my scraps as I 'make' them, so I have shoeboxes labeled, blue, green, red, etc. Every once in a while I use my Accuquilt to cut squares from them, and then they go in boxes labeled: 2" squares, 2-1/2", 3" etc. I use the squares as 'starters and enders' when I'm piecing - just like Bonnie Hunter suggests. Pretty soon I'll have a million 4 patches. Some of the shoeboxes are labeled 'strips' - they'll be used in crumb quilts.

I got a big kick out of your comment. I am in the same problem. I think I have too many UFO's so I am frozen in time trying to decide what to do with them. Several years ago I gave bushels of scraps away to an organization that make charity quilts and have given myself permission to throw away very small scraps and have a plastic wastebasket with a lid that they all go in. When I can't close the lid I sort thru them and get rid of a bunch more.

I use cascade tubs and tide power boost tubs! I run them through the dishwasher a few times to kill the smell so my scraps don't smell like cascade.

I have a can for scraps too small to mess with. When I can't get any more in the can they are donated to a group that makes pet beds. The scraps are used for stuffing

Hi my quilt class started a community service, making comfort quilts for children. I was told my county has the highest domestic violence in our state and we are making these comfort quilts for our law enforcement cars. We would love to be added to you scrappy list.

Yes, cut them into blocks or strips but I find if you label boxes 2.5" squares, 1" strips, etc. and neatly lay or fold the fabric in the appropriate box right away they're less of a hassle later. (Of coarse this is coming from someone who can't find anything under her nose.) Mom does this and when the box is full the fabric is ready for her to work with, no sorting, no ironing. (I'm almost there.)
