I bought 2 base kitchen cabinets that had 8 drawers each for flat storage. They hold all my rulers (except for 1 really long one), all my cutting mats, needles, Sizzix dies, thread, cutting tools, and a LOT of other stuff. I labeled each drawer. I put a 3/4" melamine board on top for a cutting table. I anchored furniture moving dollies (4 casters on each, 2 dollies under each cabinet) under them so it's movable. The whole thing is a little over 26" x 65". I love it!

I take my container of needles & pins to the pharmacy and they dump it in with their medical waste. Last time I did this, they didn’t understand (or I didn’t explain enough) and threw my whole container away ! I insisted on getting my container back so they had to fish it out. Mine is the perfect size and I don’t wish to use the big honking thing they wanted me to replace it with so I’ll be certain to explain.

I reuse perscription pill bottles to put dull needles in. I write on the lid "dull needles." I have an endless supply...

I do this too, but use a hammer and nail to put a small hole in the lid...saves me from opening the lid and when full I toss. I do use used needles as picture hangers and small quilt hangers. They make a small hole and the bigger shank is stronger that most nails.

OH my goodness, what a great idea! I'm using an old laundry pod container now, but it is really too big.
I'm definitely doing this!

There are some really good ideas here! Love the idea of the parmesan container for used needles and rotary cutters. I'm always fearful when I just toss them in the trash. I have one that is about empty, guess what I'll be using it for!

For me, I use old CD racks to hold my fat quarters. Yes, they are exposed and not put away, but I do use them quickly so there is no fading and little to no dust. I like being able to see my small gems out in plain site. It makes the sewing room bright and cheerful, and also gives me ideas while working on a current project.
