I joined the 2017 birthday candy exchange on this board this year. My birthday was in April, so now I am in the middle of trying to process and separate 1500+ 2.5" candies by major color.

I'm about 2/3 done, but that is just the first pass. Once that is done I will do a second pass of "blues into greens" so the squares go from blue, blues to greens, green, green into yellow...yellow....you get the idea.

Lots of putzyness (yes that is my new word for the day), but it's been fun.

Still not sure how to store them yet, but at least they are getting taken care of on a high level, anyway.

I think you mean the word futzy. Putz means something entirely different.

futz, to fiddle around, to putter around (American Jewish, possibly derivated from Yiddish 'arumfartsen')

Two posts to your name and you're pointing things out. Nice.

Oh well...I like the word putzy....I've been asked if I was Jewish in the past, which I'm not, but since it is my word today....I'm running with it! LOL

Also spent some time today going over a pile on my work desk which hasn't been touched in some time. Feels good to get things taken care of!

I'm about as Jewy as they get (and proud of it) and I can tell you that the two words have become interchangeable. You can putz around just as you can futz around and it means the same thing.

Our new poster may be objecting because putz originally referred to the male anatomy and was considered a VERY nasty word which you wouldn't utter in polite company. If you did have the chutzpah to use it, it wouldn't be very mensch-like!

However, it has come to have the same basic meaning as futz, especially when used to indicate you are fiddling around. I would still refrain from calling someone a putz, unless they really deserve it!

I often putz around my quilt studio, especially when trying to organize it.

oksewglad: LMAO....yes I have!!

What's everyone's biggest challenge for organizing this weekend? Anyone have "goals"?

Goals for this weekend-- good question, thanks for bringing it up redstillettos! A couple of weekends ago I re-organized the closet in my painting/ironing/cutting/fabrication studio and by getting rid of some things and using the space more efficiently I ended up with some empty drawers. I think I will spend some time going through all the stuff I have laying around to decide what things should go in those drawers. I'm thinking they would be a good place to store some silk saris and misc. fabric scraps that are currently in boxes stacked on the floor of my sewing area-- the only problem with this idea is that I would then have fabrics stored in two different rooms and I worry about them being out of sight out of mind.... and it's not like I don't have all kinds of things other than fabric laying on the various horizontal surfaces in my painting/etc. studio

Oh! Oh! FORGET organizing. grandsonS? Plural? And you have to make quilts yet? Do not organize. Sew, sew, sew! And smile. I am quite envious of you having little ones coming. Lucky, lucky girl!

Make sure to show what you make. I can't wait to see!

I'll be purging anything useless in my house. Our town has a junk pickup and it starts Monday. Time to say goodbye to my broken ironing board for starters and anything else I can find!
