I've been taking a day or two to think about my goals. I really want more available wall space to hang art, but I need some more shelving in the sewing room. I compromised and bought parts for two wall mounted shelves, I will still have space above for art, but I need spaces for things. It's funny, I knew what each part cost and each was reasonable yet the total surprised me... Sort of like what happens sometimes when buying fabric. I did buy heavy duty parts, I might only plan on light things there now but I might want to put rocks up there later. Should be a minor project to get those up and mounted, might happen today but goal is by Monday. I like achievable goals!

I did have a fun day browsing at the hardware store and looking at various options for various projects. I need to measure again, but I think I should have room above my desk for both my bulletin board and a peg board system for my most used tools. Mostly the bulletin board has bits of sparkly things on it, but I write big notes to myself on what I'm doing on my projects, like how many combinations or what order the colors go, and pin them up. The peg board would be a new addition. One of my friend's (whose husband worked for Boeing and went through the full 5S/Kaizen sort of thing there) did the full set up for her, including the outlines of the actual pairs of scissors and stuff. It was clear that everything had a place and it was either there or not...

Yesterday I did not have organizing day at my friend's house, her husband had medical appointments. Am going today and am looking forward to seeing her treasures

In addition to the specialized need for vinyl record storage, am also looking at bowling ball options. Hubby is growing in his league participation and his ball collection and has at least 6? 4 of which have been rolling around the living room quite a bit. I also have two balls of my own (but they are in a case). Like records, bowling balls are heavy storage!

Just finished a scrappy baby quilt using jelly rolls. Unfortunately using jellies makes one heck of a horrible mess. After my quilt group I plan to organize them by color. That should help me to plan the next scrappy quilt. Sounds like a great plan in my mind!(Sigh.)

Woohoo! My "Cranky Bernie" Bernina will soon be coming home from the shop. It did have a couple of problems, for a machine of this initial cost/age, repairs are always things to grumble about, but they have come in within my budget.

Already this morning I moved the fabric storage boxes to a different location, so I can move the sewing table and put up the shelving unit I bought. Have some real life planned for today, but goal still remains by Monday... still achievable

PS: I did get the sound system set back up. The repaired CD player I got at auction plays like a champ and so far the wall mounted tv remains securely wall mounted.

Bernie's back and the shelves are up, or at least temporarily. I will get white shelves cut to about 42" these are a couple of standard 36" shelves I had extra. I will also get brackets to hang the speakers on the window wall. But I have a clear space and sound and theoretically, am ready to quilt!

Edit: Hubby's work trimmed the acrylic insert I got with Bernie, it was a little too long to fit this table. LOL, even after trimming it's still a little too long but they can take another 1/4" off and then it will be just right For now I have it set so the quilting extension is flush to the table.

I’ve been trying to get my scraps better organized and finally made good progress. Yesterday I gathered up my over flowing basket, grabbed a little cutting mat, ruler & cutter. I set up on a table out of the way and off & on throughout the day I would find a TED talk to listen to and would cut squares for a while. By mid afternoon I had nice, organized ( paired up for sewing) stacks of 2 1/2” squares and a smaller stack of 2” squares- paired up too. Now I have a nice, neat shoebox of squares all paired, ready for stitching- a new ( Leader/Ender) project and the only scraps left is a basket of strips to put to use. Slowly but consistently I am Making headway decluttering, organizing and purging.
there is still a lot to deal with but each day I make a little progress is a good day.

Organization Wednesday is still going on at my friend's house. We've made huge progress down stairs, up the stairs and in the spare bedroom -- as well as the few things that had made it into the study. Next time we turn to the hallway leading to the sewing room and deeper into the fabric. I'm pretty good/fast dealing with "just" fabric, the bedroom has a lot more categories of things I'm not so equipped to deal with. But we have room to walk around the bed and access each group, and can lay out things on half the bed. The other half is the designated place for extra blankets and such.

Before I went there, I pulled out the free ping pong table in the back yard I got a month or so ago -- my quilting life or at least laying out things is about to get so much better! The table is a full 108" long -- which happened to be exactly the size of the back I grabbed as an example, so the clamps I bought held on snugly at both ends. Clamps are firm but not too tight, I could barely open some of them at the hardware store. I'll cut a piece of warm and natural batting to use as a pad and I'll be able to do some last minute ironing and such in place as well, I'm planing on spray/glue basting (for pins I'd leave the pad off). The height is good, not having the four posters of the bed to worry about is great. Yes, the sides have to drape but still so much better than trying to layout a queen size quilt on top of a queen sized bed. And yes, I'll have to deal with weather and wind and storage over the winter and things like that, but first I'm gonna sandwich me a few tops!!

I have been downsizing our office area to make room for a better sewing space for me as we no longer need a large area for our business. I've been tossing outdated and irrelevant items to get ready for the switch...may take a while, but that's okay. We had family over the weekend and while watching football games, I sat at the dining room table and cut scraps into usable sizes in the midst of everyone and everything! Good fun.

No organizing today, just sewing. I can spend so much time putting things in order that I forget what the purpose of the sewing room is for.....sewing . Today my quilt group is Zooming for a few hours, we do this every Tuesday, and I have a plan for a serious three hours block to time of chain piecing for a sew-a-long. Goal is to get them sewn, pressed and stacked and ready for the next step. Guess that is organizing the pieces rather than the space. Tee-Hee-Hee!

I had three car loads of scraps (the kind you would throw out to the birds) given to me for pet beds. I have spent the past three days making pillow cases and stuffing them with the scraps. Probably donated about 25 pet beds. As you can imagine, my sewing room was a disaster. I started yesterday cleaning it up. I’m very organized, but still can’t get it like I want it. What does make me feel better is when I go to my friend’s house. She has a large building separate from her house for sewing. When you walk in it’s like “holly molly”. You can’t even walk through it. A long arm, three sewing machines, a serger, tv, a huge cutting table (completely covered up with fabric) shelves and shelves and tubs EVERYWHERE. Her house is the same way. That’s the way she likes it. She lets me use her long arm for my quilting. When I get back home to my sewing room it’s like “this isn’t so bad after all”. Lol
