Yes, How frustrating. I've been trying to clean and organize, then the other night I needed a tape measure. Couldn't find one and still can't! I have 4 or 5 of them, and I think I have them together. I keep thinking of different places to look, to no avail. Drives me crazy! But I found the shirt I lost. Evidently I was going to iron it, but it got buried on the cutting table.

You are definitely not alone. There seems to be a tendency, while cleaning, to put something away in the "logical" place, so you are sure to find it the next time it's needed and all of a sudden, it then becomes like the socks in the washing machine. Where did it go?

Then you have to sit and mentally(sometimes physically) retrace your steps from the last time you remember having the item. It helps most of the time, no guarantees.

I spent today looking for the dongle for my embroidery software........my husband and I turned the house upside literally ( will probably have to spend three days sorting it out again) only place I ever have the dongle is on the work surface in the sewing room.....went through every box, cupboard, behind the work units etc.........where did I find it?
In a carrier bag of shopping in my wardrobe......how it got there I just cannot figure......!!!

I always "loose" things in the cleaning process. Maybe that's why I don't do it very often.

I think that there's gremlins coming in at night and messing up my space. But it's just me!! I know your pain very well. LOL

pippie - I think you are so right about the gremlins.............. A friend of mine came to the house today as she was working on a project and wanted to know what I would do...... well told her I had just the right piece of fabric for the project.... went to the sewing room opened the dresser and there right on the top was the pattern and fabric I had been looking for. How could I have not seen it being right on the top as I had looked in there at least 5 times when looking for the pattern and fabric....... gremlins yes........ and they are working overtime at this house.......... lost a rooster that stands at least 15" high 2 years ago at Christmas time and have never found him..... my daughter has looked this house high and low and she can't find him either. Took him off the shelf to put up Christmas decorations and remember saying to myself put him someplace where his tail feathers won't get broken........... never to be seen again. One happy camper to have found the pattern and fabric........ now just need to find the run away rooster.. lol

LOL, know the feeling all too well. Stacks of FQs on my shelves for counted fabrics for 3 swaps on different sign up sites of varying cut sizes & each marked with a yellow post-it. All was well until a week later I discovered the post-its didn't stick well. Glad that I had already cut & packaged them so that I don't send dups in the next swaps & could mark FQ stacks again. I use a 10 drawer tall dresser to color code & keep my FQs. I keep yardage cloth in fabric color coded tubs for quick reference & it is a hassle to move them around when I need to get something out or put something away! I finally gave up & cleared a wall to keep site of my rulers. They like to hide under fabric. Down to my last ripper unless I find one of the other 3! Gotta be here somewhere. I learned not to keep my rubbish box under my table, found an expensive ruler in there once. Clean up this place & I'll never find a thing. Yes, indeed, I know how you feel!
