Default Yikes, how will I find anything?

In 3 weeks my son, DIL, and 2 granddaughters are moving in with us for a few months. My sewing room is moving from a room to part of DH's office, where I've been asked to be "neat" so it looks nice. He doesn't really have a good concept of the amount of "stuff" I want to have access to. This should be interesting...

It will be an exercise in Zen simplicity. I have to admit when my son said he was moving back to NY, I was delighted, but also relieved that he wasn't moving home! His room is my bike storage/sewing room now!

I honestly do not think I could give up my sewing room, not even for family. It maintains my sanity after a day at my crazy job. Just do your best - maybe work on one project at a time while you are in the smaller quarters.

My son and dil moved back in my laundry room(it used to be a single car garage) last summer for a few months. This is where I store all my fabrics in tubs. Can't get to anything. Hope it works out well for you. I love having them here but would like to be able to get to my fabrics too.

Ask your DH to help design the space up front. He may have some insight about storage that you haven't thought about and it will give you a better understanding of what his idea of "neat" is. I feel for you......I tidy up my room after every finished project or between them when even I can't stand it, but it looks like a whirlwind within minutes.

I feel for you. Right now my sewing room is the spare bedroom and the grandchildren sleep there every weekend so I have to be fairly neat and have things put away. I've taken over the dining room table but that's soon to go away. I want my table back. Keep wishing for my very own sewing room where I don't have to share with anybody else!!! lol Hope your dilema doesn't last too long and you can get back to "normal".

I have taken over 2 rooms and I would not be able to share them. I just have too much fabric and machines. They would have to sleep on air mattress and pull out sofa to make it here.
