The Mid-Atlantic Quilt show is in Hampton this weekend. Is anybody entered? Please let us know so we can make sure we don't miss it.

I took a vacation day from work to go on friday! Anyone want to meet up for lunch in the lobby? My DH works for the hotel and they have been gearing up for " the quilters" all month. We are the big event of the year for them, all rooms sold out and all staff on call. Honestly, I thought he knew there were others like me, but now he is impressed at our clout, hee hee.

Oh I so wish I were going. It crept up on me and I didn't get signed up for any classes. It is the only one I know of within driving distance for ease of taking a sewing machine. I have family in Williamsburg so could have a place to stay. But the drive down 64 in rush hour to get to a 9am class would be a nightmare. I personally liked it when the show was in Williamsburg for that reason. Purely selfish of me.
My DH went with me last year. Won't ever do that again. I just didn't feel like I could browse and take the time I wanted. He just followed me around acting bored. Which I'm sure he was. But I've spent many an hour in Lowe's and HD waiting while he "scratches" over what he needs.
So if anyone is ever going from the Raleigh/Durham/Burlington area and wants a passenger to split the drive let me know.

I'm planning on going Sunday. I'll take some pictures while at the event and post them in the picture section Sunday night. I try to go every year. I always get a new tool from Deb Tucker's booth. This time I think I'll get the wing clipper tool. Now if she's got a sale of a sale show bundle package I could be in trouble.

I forgot my camera in all the excitement. I didn't even think of the camera until I was at the event and went to get it out. Cathy Wiggins took 1st (a dragon) and 3rd place (fairies) with each being unbelievable. One of favorites of the show was a wall hanging 3d cat. I am not a cat person, but that cat quilt was cool. Did anybody get pictures of the dragon quilt or pictures of the climbing cat with green eyes and the bushy tail wall hanging?

The cat was fantastic! It was a small wall quilt, but my favorite in the show, by far. I laughed all afternoon thinking about it. I'll see if my picture came out and if I can download it here. Don't hold your breath, I'm very bad at this stuff. I also liked the humane society quilt hung inside the doors.
