Anyone on the QB interested in getting together in East Tennessee? We could meet for lunch somewhere or visit some local quilt shops. I live in East TN between Knoxville and Chattanooga, but my LQS is in Crossville. :)

    Edie -

Years ago my dad worked at Watts Bar, and we lived in Knoxville, so I've been through your neck of the woods many times! My wife and I took a great class from Julia and just finished those quilts a few months ago. I'll send you a PM.

Spend time in the Sparta area and love Julia. Probably one of the best teachers I have used.

Edie, I'm in Greeneville, about an hour East of Knoxville. If I could work it, I'd be interested.

What fun! I am leaving on vacation and won't be back until the end of August. How about we schedule something after Labor Day. I'll work on an idea and let you know. Sounds like the Knoxville area might be the best location to get together. Thanks so much for the response.

If you wait till after Labor Day, I'll be home to join you. I live in Maryville. We could meet here or in Knoxville. Sounds like fun. There are some more quilters from here on the board. Maybe they will join us.

To all the Board Members in the East TN area, lets try to get together in Knoxville on Saturday, October 22, 2011 (that's an away game for UT). I thought we could have an early lunch (11:00 a.m.) and then visit Mammaw's Thimble Fabric and Quilt Shop on Papermill Road. If you have not visited Mammaw's, it is a very eclectic shop full of fabrics (8000 bolts), patterns, tools, etc. They have just moved into a new building at 4319 Papermill Drive, Knoxville, TN. Let me know if this date works for you or if we need to change it. Mammaw's said we needed to wear a pin or color of some kind so they know who we are a group. So you clever folks be thinking about that. We can rearrange the schedule however you prefer. I just came up with a place to start. Let me know if you plan to join us.

Is the 11:00 lunch time eastern time or central time? Also, where is the meeting place? Papermill Drive is the exit at Sam's Club, correct?

Good question about the 11:00 lunch time. Papermill Drive is a separate exit - NOT the one for Sam's Club. If you are coming from the West (heading east), Papermill will be a couple of exits further down the road. Take the Papermill exit and continue East on Papermill. (If you get to the interchange for I-640, you have gone too far.) The store is on the left side of the road. Not too sure of places close by there for eating lunch, though.

I can't positively say right now if I can meet up, but will certainly try. Sounds like a lot of fun. I haven't been to Mammaw's since they moved to their new store.

Have fun everyone. I'm in Jonesborough and usually have the weekends off ---- of course except for this one!

    Maybe next time.

I am so excited, we've gotten three yes's and two maybe's. This will be fun. Lunch will be at 11:00 a.m. Eastern Time. I am going to Knoxville tomorrow to see exactly where everything is. I'll post final plans this week. I sure hope others will come. It will be so nice to put faces with avatars!

Final Plans for Get Together - On Saturday, October 22, 2011, we will meet for an early lunch at 11:00 a.m. (Eastern Standard Time), at T.G.I. Friday's Restaurant, 135 Northshore Drive., Knoxville, TN 37919 (865-450-8818). After lunch, we will go to Mammaw's Thimble Fabric and Quilt Shop, 4319 Papermill Drive, Knoxville, TN 37909 (865-588-8818). Mammaw's Thimble's owner is excited that we are coming and said we could use their board room to visit after we do a little shopping!

Directions to TGI Friday's. Exit Interstate 40E/75S at Papermill Exit 383. Turn onto Papermill go East heading to Kingston Pike. Stay in the two left lanes of Papermill (stay in outside lane). Go straight ahead through traffic light. Restaurant is on right on Papermill. Pull up a map on Goggle Maps or whichever map system you like to use. Anyone from Knoxville area feel free to give better directions.

I am so excited about our get together and am looking forward to meeting each of you.
