I live in Brunswick but work in Hinesville. I have been around now for 10 years. I belong to the Stars and Stripes Quilt guild in Hinesville and the Coastal Georgia Quilt Guild in Brunswick.

Hey Savannahrandons! I'm in Hinesville as well. We're all part of the Stars and Stripes Quilt Guild that meets in Hinesville. Hinesville is about an hour south west of Savannah and Brunswick is another hour south of Hinesville off I95. Hinesville is also very near Fort Stewart if that helps any. The two are side by side.

Just so you know if you're interested, we are meeting for our monthly "Sew Day" this coming Saturday, August 11th from 10-4 at the Senior Center here in town. We had our monthly quilt club meeting last night at the same location. It's always on the first Tuesday of the month.

If you're interested in joining us PM me and I can provide you with the location address. Also we have a Facebook page if you want to know more about our guild.

As for me, I'm a fairly new quilter. I've been sewing most of my life but quilting only about the last 5 years or so. I am also new to the area as I just moved here about 2 years ago. Would love to have you join us at one of our functions or you could always venture out and join us in Hinesville for a chat.

Welcome to the area!

Its about a 55 minute drive from Hinesville depending where you go in Savannah and a bout 1 hour and 20 minutes from Brunswick again depending where you have to go.

I use to shop in Savannah all the time but since they closed down Books-A-Million last year even though it has a JoAnns, Michaels, AC Moore I now prefer to go to Brunswick because those stores are much better manned and better quality of products that I want and need and they also have a Books-A-Million. Otherwise I do my shopping online for such things.

The distance for me between going to Savannah or Brunswick is about the same either way from Hinesville about 55 minutes. The only difference is Savannah is north of me and Brunswick is south of me.

Since you live in Savannah check out Colonial Quilts shop and they have a list of quilt guilds in SE. They have at least one in Savannah and one in Hilton Head. Colonial Quilts also has a website, just do a search at google for it and it will bring up everything in SE area.

I know Colonial Quilts also has several sew ins of various sorts throughout the month so you may want to check that out as well.

I live in Savannah, GA. I don't belong to any of the guilds. There is a quilt shop in Garden City, GA which is only 15 or 20 minutes from Savannah and I go there at least once a week. I teach classes there and also pick up and deliver quilts to be quilted back to the store. It's called Sew Much More and the owner is Bonnie Brooks. She is a very nice and helpful lady to deal with. There is something going on at her store pretty regular so you need to stop by and see her. Take a look around the store as I do 95% of the samples for the store. In other words - I'm proud of the store and what Bonnie stands for. It's a very friendly place to visit and hang out. I'm normally there on Tuesdays but during August and September I am teaching classes every Wednesday except for this week, I have jury duty. PM me if you would like my email address and let me know what area you live in.
