Piedmont Arts Association is currently showing their fabulous biennial quilt show, The Art of the Quilt. The address is 215 Starling Avenue (US Rt. 58 business), Martinsville, VA 24112; 276-632-3221. The hours are Monday – Friday: 10 am – 5 pm, Saturday: 10 am – 3 pm, Closed Sunday. Piedmont Arts is closed on Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Day, Easter and Memorial Day. Admission and parking are free. The galleries are handicapped accessible, with the exception of the small mezzanine gallery, which is down a half-flight of steps. Also on display are quilts by members of the Virginia Foothills Quilters Guild in the Lynwood Artists Gallery.

While in Martinsville, go down the street a block and visit the Virginia Museum of Natural History at 21 Starling Avenue. Other places of interest in Uptown Martinsville are the Southern Virginia Artisan Center, 54 West Church Street, which also has some quilts, among other artwork, and Studio 107, 105 East Church Street, where you can see artists at work. The Martinsville-Henry County Historical Society and Museum is located in the Historic Henry County Courthouse on Main Street.
