Nanette, I, too, have a 95 y/o mother that takes some of my time. She needs to be taken to Dr.'s appointments, church, just out once in a while. She's probably in better health than I am, but she is certainly aging quickly at this time. She currently has an apartment in a retirement center. They provide breakfast and lunch and lots of activities. She has many friends to share time with and I'm not far from her if I were needed.

I've been quilting since before I retired and I just love everything about the process. I especially love to take classes and if I'm able to take from a well known teacher I feel really special.

Thanks so much for responding to my message and I hope we'll be able to keep up with one another through our quilting adventures.

Susan

Default Looking for a quilting pal - I'm from Texas

Hello, I am Susan from Texas close to Austin. I have been quilting for a few years, work full time. Retirement is on the horizon ... in a couple of years. I try to quilt regularly; however, I am the sole caregiver for my Mother who has Lewy Body Dementia when I am not working my paying job. I am behind in my quilting world, with lots of projects to be worked on and many to be finished. No friends to visit with about quilting; cannot get away after I get home from work. I can visit by email at this point.

Hi, Mary in WI. I think it will be wonderful to keep in touch with you. I really love hearing about what others are working on, the styles they prefer, just everything. I guess you would call me a traditional quilter. I love Civil War fabrics, florals and Batiks. I have to much fabric and pre-cuts to finish in this lifetime, but I'm going to give it my best shot.

Hope to hear from you again!

Hi Ladies, my name is Sherri and currently live in Port Orchard, WA. Our house is scheduled to close on Nov 24th and then we will be moving to Granite, OK. Granite is a small town in Southwestern Oklahoma; not far from Altus if anyone is familiar with that town. I have been quilting for less than a year and I love it. I thought it would be a great hobby, especially in the very hot summer months. Look forward to hearing from all of you.

Hi! I'm also in Texas, the Houston area. I'm 65, retired, and would love to join this thread I've also recently acquired a sit--down long arm but haven't really spent much time on it I've been having a lot of tension and bobbin problems with it which are very discouraging the bobbin case inserts sideways, and on a sit down setup that means reaching into a small hole in the table top and blindly mounting the bobbin not easy

Nancy...where are you in Houston? Sorry to hear of your problems with your long arm...hopefully you can get those worked out...I don't have any experience with anything like that. Looks like you were in LA? Did you move recently?

Susan...visiting by email sounds great...you are definitely busy. Working and caregiving is not for sissies!!! I'm fortunate that I don't have to work, but my husband is never home, so the the caregiving is up to me. I'm sure you'll be glad to retire. Quilting helps me to relax when I can get to it.

Hello ya'll...I'm in Central Texas, outside of Austin in the Hill Country...I've been quilting for about 10 years and love it...we have just sold our house in Cedar Park and have moved back out to the house we had in the country, with the hopes of retiring in 5 years. I can't wait! Finally got my sewing room back together last week and spent about 5 hours in there on Sunday working on a baby quilt for our new grandson that is due to arrive in mid December...so, I am working hard trying to get it done!

Would love to visit with you all about quilting, I love the traditional quilts also, and have enough fabric and pre-cuts to last me two lifetimes, but can't say no to beautiful fabric. MSQC gets a lot of my money! I lost my first husband almost 5 years ago due to a massive heart attack, it was the most awful time in my life, we were married for 32 years. But, God was gracious enough to send me another good man, James, we have been married a little over a year. I've been blessed to have two good men in my life.

So, things out in the country, are always busy and interesting...especially since we are trying to fix up the house and make improvement outside. Between, house-leveling, fencing, new decks and a carport going in....I'm trying my best to focus on fabric some of the time! Here's to new friends!
