Hi, I'm just making this enquiry in the hope that one of the shop/store owners on the board that is attending the NEC this summer is able to help locate some fabric.

Is anyone from any side of the pond that is setting up a stall at the NEC bringing along the Robert Kaufman fabric, Intergalactic and Stargazers? (the deeper blues). If so, do you have an allocated location inside the building that I can track you down with once there?

I've ordered some wonderful fabric from the States before, but got stung pretty hard by customs once it reached England, making it very expensive fabric. I'm now reluctant to repeat the process, and I'm struggling to find them in the UK or online here.

So, I'll be attending the NEC on the Sunday with the hope that I can get hold of some of this fabric for what's going to become a long awaited Star Trek quilt.

Thanks for any help or links to these fabrics.

:D Thanks... It's been more difficult finding these fabrics in the UK than I thought it would be. I'll take all the luck you can send.

I will definitely post piccys during and when it's done. Like your aunt, I have loved Trek since I was a kid and I've waited a long time to do this quilt.

The plan is different sized Attic Window blocks with the space fabric for the back/square of the block with applique Trek symbols etc displayed like ornaments on shelves. Then an appliqued Vulcan (Spock) stood in front of the display.

The new uniform fabric is also as scarce as the space fabric... can't find it anywhere for love nor money.

Well, back to the graph paper to work out the design and sizes.
Thank you

Hi Karen,

Thanks for the link... Spot On! Some of the fabrics in the Celestials collection are the ones I've been wanting... and hoping for.

I've got a couple of shop owners trying to track them down in the UK for me, so that I don't get stung with the customs again when ordering from the States. If not... the NEC in August is looking promising.

Got my money saved up and my credit card has been at Zero for over six months, so if I see anything for my Star Trek quilt or anything that will look good in my stash... I'm having! :-D

If you are still having difficulty, maybe somebody on this side of the pond will purchase the fabric for you and mail it over - without handling and customs charges!
I would offer, but have no easy access to an LQS.

Oh, great idea Barbara. Thank you. I'll keep that in mind for after August and see what can be done.

At the moment I'm able to wait for either the shop assistants in the UK to come back to me, and then the NEC because I'm drawing up the designs of the shelves and the applique ornaments... and Spock (bless him!).

After that, If I've had no luck I'll take the bull by the horns and look into ordering from over the pond not worry about the postage ;)

Just one idea I've come up with, but I'm not sure how I would stand with copyright, so any advice would be greatfully received. Being as it's going to be my own quilt and not for sale, would I be able to print off some Trek items from the net onto printable washable cotton to then applique onto the quilt top?

Thank you
Joanne

E-mail them and ask who in the UK carries their fabric.
