Anyone going to the Fall Paducah show?

If you're headed to Paducah in a few weeks and need some insider help, I'm right here and happy to show you around. I'm local and love to give you as much help and advice as you want or need. I'll be happy to meet up with you and show you around, or if you like to explore on your own and just need some tips, I'm happy to do that too.

Just let me know.

I'm going and I'm sooo excited! Meeting up with my sister in upstate NY and we are road tripping to Paducah for the show. Haven't seen each other in 8 years, have never vacationed together and have never been to anything quilty except our own local quilt shows, so we plan to see and do as much as our aging bodies will allow.

I already PM'd melodyr earlier, but I wanted to send out a public thanks for the help in planning our trip. I've made notes on a few places that were mentioned in other posts for good places to eat and hope to try them out. And of course there's the museum, Quilt in a Day, and Hancocks of Paducah, plus the show. Whew! 4 days might not be enough!

They have such amazing classes and they aren't sold out yet! I'm so surprised.

I'd love to go but not in the cards this year.

Here's some Paducah activities that may not be published in the AQS materials. Also Lyft and Uber are available if you want to avoid parking in multiple places. https://www.paducah.travel/blog/post...ucah-kentucky/

I just Googled Paducah from where I am... Only 7 1/2hour drive. It won't be this year, but one of these days I will go!

The class I'm really wanting is sold out. (Ice dyeing) Hopefully, it will be offered again in the spring.

Melody is such a nice person and a fabulous hostess! Be sure to take her up on her offer to help or answer questions, if you are headed to Paducah.

Do I remember an Egyptian munny in Paducah? It has been many years...

melodyr 08-27-2019 08:26 AM

It was a mummy of sorts...his name was Speedy and was on display in a funeral parlor to showcase the establishment's skills. He has since been laid to rest in a proper burial.

I'm going to Paducah for the quilt show!

I had a garage sale which did OK, plus found an AirBnB that I think must have been a last minute cancellation because not only was it a reduced price, it is 4 minute walk from the Quilt Museum, 13 minutes from the Expo building! Score!

It's a long (10 hour) drive, but that's OK because not only is the quilt show on, Danny Amazonas' exhibition is at the Quilt Museum at the same time. Double score!

I've signed up for a class on Value and Color and another lecture on Thread, so Wednesday is a write off, but I'll have all day Thursday to myself to see the show and the exhibit.

I'm also going to try to meet up with melodyr at some point. Can't wait!

Yay! Watson. We looked into it, but would have been a 16 hour drive for us. Have fun! If you get a chance look for our quilt, “A Pigment of Our Amalgamation”. It’ll be in the wall quilts section.

The Danny Amazonas exhibit is wonderful. His work is amazing!

I'm going with three others on a bus trip from our area of Ontario.. Can't wait to return, I was there in 2011 (Spring)!

I don't think I've ever had more fun than when I went to Paducah! All of you are in for a real treat :)

Oh, my! How lovely! Can't wait to see it in person!

melodyr 09-11-2019 02:29 PM

I'll be at the show tomorrow. I'll be wearing one of those bright blue "I Quilt and I Know Things" tee shirts and olive colored jeans. I have shoulder length dark blond hair, slender and in my early 60's. If you see me, say hi! I'll definitely be in the lobby for the Quilt Cake cutting!

sewbizgirl 09-11-2019 03:14 PM

Wow Rob, congrats on hanging in Paducah! Your quilt is lovely.

Y'all have fun. Wish I was there....
