Hi all

I am coming over to the US in two weeks and was wondering if any of you guys could point me in the direction of either a LQS or BETTER STILL a quilt meeting I could crash while I am there???

I am in Birmingham, Alabama for a week, then driving to Michigan for two weeks, and then back to Birmingham for another two....

Let me know if you have any ideas for me???

And YES - PVQuilter - I will be bringing my Santa blocks to mail as soon as I arrive!!!

There is a great little QS in Wyandotte, about 20 minutes off of 75 it is called Sew Fun Fabrics (Deb), and another is called Sew What (Judy)...

both in Wyandotte ...and Deb or Judy would love to help you.

You have to go RIGHT BY Whittle's to get from B'ham to Michigan (trust me on this!)
http://www.whittlesfabrics.com/
They are closed on Thursdays and Sundays, so don't plan on travelling those days LOL
They have their location on their website and you can back out to see how to get there from I65

I'm in Atlanta.. 2 1/2 hours east of Birmingham. I do not know of anyplace in that area. My daughter just moved there to attend graduate school. There are loads of guilds here though. I just don't belong to one. Sorry I can't help you.. Enjoy your trip!

Thank you all so much for your help - will deffinately look up the stores in Birmingham!!

I am going to have to sweet talk my poor long suffering friend - she is with me on the long drive north and - bless her - she endures fabric stores with me whenever I visit her!!! She is also making her first quilt!!! Which I expect I will get to finish for her when I arrive!!! Or at least quilt!!!

I'll let you all know when we have a route planned!

Where is your Michigan destination?

quiltlin 09-02-2010 09:16 AM

Yes, there are a couple of quilt shops in Birmingham and near there. Can't remember their names but if you just check on line or in a telephone book I'm sure you'll find them. Also, just google "quilt guild Birmingham, AL" and you should come up with a list. Have a agreat time!!!

Just North of Birmingham is a suburb called Trussville. There is a quaint but wonderfull quilt/fabric shop there that also has a guild. Check out the attached link. Enjoy your visit and drive safe.
