Cruisin' to Hawaii

1 Attachment(s)
I am wondering if there are any quilters out there that have signed up
for a Quilting Cruise to Hawaii on March 3, 2016? My first trip.

I am going alone but thought it would be nice to share some ideas
before I go, possibly with someone who is going or has already been there.

I have been quilting for several years but just got serious about it
2 years ago when I retired and moved to the Oregon Coast. I belong
to a Guild that meets twice a month and makes quilts for the community.
This is our "Star of Hope" raffle quilt for this year.

I have never gone on a cruise before but going to Hawaii, that has got to be twice the FUN!

I have never been on a cruise to Hawaii, but I have visited there twice. It is extremely beautiful - away from big city Honolulu - and very expensive. I certainly hope your cruise takes you to some of the other islands besides Oahu. They are all so very different. Maui is my favorite, but the Big Island and Kauai are also beautiful in different ways. Have fun!

Is it a cruise to Hawaii or an Hawaiian cruise, where you fly to Hawaii and cruise the islands?

A quilting cruise to Hawaii sounds great--I have been on the Panama Canal cruise--not quilting. Each island has some nice quilt shops if you plan to go shopping. Kauai has a couple of nice ones and our favorite island--the Big Island has quite a few with a Discount fabric store which carries lots of fabrics.

Aloha -- we moved here from Vancouver WA in 1998! And think you will enjoy the crusin' and quiltin' part as well as your days on good old solid land! Hope you get some shop time too, there is a wonderful quilting tradition on the islands, which is supported by many shops, small and large, no mainland competitors ( NO Joann's, Hobby Lobby, etc.) are here. And lots of fabrics which are not available on the mainland, special prints designs with island flowers, fish, lush tropicals, etc., as well as batiks galore and Asian fabrics as well. Have FUN!

Haven't cruised to Hawaii (almost did but got snowed in). We went to Hawaii a few years ago and in Kona I found a shop full of Kona fabrics -- sent them home in a priority mail box (I do this whenever I am in the states). Also went to a market in Kona and found some amazing batiks -- printed panels that were amazing. DD told me not to go to Kona if I go again.
