I'm going to the Orlando area next week, and due to a change in plans I'll have two days to wander by myself. Any quilt shops/galleries/quilt museums in the Orlando/Cocoa Beach/Tampa area I don't want to miss? Also does anyone have a favorite yarn shop in the area?

If you are going to Cocoa Beach area, there is a wonderful quilt shop in Rockledge (very close to Cocoa) called The Quilt Place. One of my very favorites. It is worth the trip.

PS
In Tampa area is Rainbow's End. Huge, overwhelming choice of fabric.

Remember, buy all you can and then the day or so before you leave for home, send it to yourself by UPS and then you can be home to accept it. Beats trying to pay overweight luggage fees and keeping track of them.
Keep money and ID in any inside pockets in a light jacket. Or hanging from a light cord around your neck. My DIL was a travel agent and gave her clients one of these, but the men who refused them had pockets picked some times. Men should put wallets in front pockets, not the backs.
Way too many light fingered folks running around at this time of year.

We're going to Brooksville/Spring Hill area and the Punta Gorda area over Christmas. I know where the Jo Ann's are but nothing else. Rainbow's End sure looks like a super shop.

I'm not from Fla. or know of any shops but you might ask to meet up with someone who lives there around where you are going and is on the board if they are free and meet and have fun going to shops together. Merry Christmas

Thanks for the reminder! We all need to be aware of our surroundings, especially at this time of year.

Oooooo... If you know of any, I'd like to know as well! I live in Ocala.

Rainbow's End is a MUST!!! THREE rooms of fabric! Take lots of money! It's not far from me and I go there a few times a year. Only because I get better prices on the internet. But Rainbow's End will be worth your trip! And it's in such a pretty little town named Dunedin. Get there early because you'll be in there for awhile! After you go through the first room, find the next TWO! Have fun!
