Next month I will be going to Ky, will be going thru Murfreesboro, TN, Franklin, TN. Does anyone know of a quilt shop in Franklin, and quilt shops around Beaver Dam/Owensboro,KY?
|
No quilt shop suggestions, but have a GREAT trip
|
Franklin has a crazy full and busy quilt shop. I do not know if it was effected by the flooding, I live 5 hours North of there, but I HIGHLY recommend going there!
IF you just ask around town you will get directions, they used to be right off the town square, but I heard that they moved, and hopefully expanded. The few times I was there fabric was stacked to the ceiling and in front of each other! You will find quilt shops located at "Land between the Lakes" as well. Make sure you have Patty's pork chops and fried dill pickles and enjoy a carriage ride while you are there. |
When I'm going to be traveling I go online, click on Search and type in
Quilt stores in or around XXXXX, XX And hit enter. I usually get a whole list of them. I get my map out and highlight the towns I want to hit. Then I google the store and print out a map. Doesn't always work, Hickory Hills in Hot Springs was so hard to find and when I called for directions the lady didn't bother to tell me that they were closing in about 30 minutes. Since I was about an hour away, I didn't make it. But usually there's not a problem. |
Where is Land between the Lakes? sounds interesting or I should say what is it.
|
Land Between the Lakes is a penninsula created by a dam. One of the lakes is Kentucky Lake, I am not sure about the other. (I was there once, years ago).
If you google Patty's 1800's Settlement I am sure you will get to see pics of the town. Here is some info on the National Park nearby. http://www.lbl.org/ |
Lake Barkley is the other lake.
|
They're a really nice one in Bowling Green -- ok, help me out here -- what's the name of it? Does a lot of business online and very inexpensive.......
|
Bowling Green would be good, won't be far from there, hope you can think of the name.
|
If you will be in Murfreesboro and in Franklin, what is your traveling route? I just wonder because Franklin is on I65, and Murfreesboro is on I24. I'm in Murfreesboro and just went to Franklin the other day. (non quilt related though).
Have a safe trip! Carol B |
WE will be in Murfreesboro, leave there and head out to get on I-65, stop in Franklin and go to KY, also will stop at a quilt shop in Franklin, KY.
|

OK, while you're in Kentucky, you MUST visit Whittles. They are located at 3858 Chalybeate Rd., Smiths Grove, KY 42171. I have a map which shows them to be off exit 38 of I65. Their website is: www.Whittlesfabric.com
They are closed Thursday and Sunday -- hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. However, the do NOT accept credit cards in their shop -- must be check or cash. I went to the Owensboro Quilt Show yesterday and they had a booth there. Beautiful fabric at $3.00/$3.50 yd. Bought a "layer cake" for $18. We also had dinner at Moonlite BBQ -- I'm still full to the brim  |
I used to live in Bowling Green KY and they have a Hancocks on Scottsville rd..There's also a quilt shop but right off hand I don't remember the name..It should be in the phone book.

As far as I know there isn't an online quiling store in Bowling Green, and I spent a lot of time there when my son was at WKU. However, there is Hancock's of Paducah in Paducah, which is well worth the trip. We stay at Kentucky Dam Village on Kentucky Lake at Land Between the Lakes. It's about half an hour in to Paducah from there to Hancock's. The Quilt Museum is downtown in Paducah as well as a Quilt in Day store that's good to visit.
|
The Hancock's in Bowling Green is a chain store, and not the same as Hancock's of Paducah. Forgot to mention that.

I always enjoy a visit across the river in Boonville, Indiana at The Village Mercantile. They have a website also.
