Going to Sante Fe, N.M. in April.
Anyone know of LQS, fabric shops there?
Discount fabric stores?
Thanks, Linda

Not a bunch of options in Santa Fe.
My favorite is Santa Fe Quilting. Pretty good selection and a very nice staff.
Santa Fe Fabric - more speciality fabrics. Hobby Lobby and JoAnn too.
If you can travel to Albuquerque - there are several quilting stores there -really nice selections.

It's not discount but go to Kokopelli Quilt Shop and get some New Mexico theme fabric for a treat. I did and am going to make a hot air balloon pattern quilt. Stop by Gruet winery shop at the front of the little strip mall - their champagne is fab. Also, take the tram up into the Sandia Mts and and go for a hike in this beautiful place. Everything is flat here in Florida so the mts were a real treat.

Pm me. I would gladly take you on a tour of the fabric shops in the area. SW Decratives Is my favorit, Kokopeli quilting is their long arm quilting shop. The are also 4 or5 other LQS that I can think of without hitting Hancocks, Joanns, or hobby Lobby, which there are at least 2 of each, three of some.

I have always heard NM is a beautiful place, but how safe is it??? My hubs and I wanted to retire in a warm climate state, so we had thought about NM and Arizona, any feed back would be grateful.

I live in Albuquerque, my personal opinion is that we are not ever totally "safe" no matter where we are. But as to climate, I'm retiring to Arizona next month! :)

New Mexico is a beautiful place to live and safer than a lot of other states I have heard tell of. Of course you have to check out certain areas as you would anywhere else. We have mountains and deserts. Our weather is good. The heat here is dry heat. We have some very small towns, then Albuquerque and Santa fe. Santa Fe is an expensive place to live and in a high elevation so it gets more snow than a lot of other places and it is becoming Little Hollywood. We have townx like Taos which is mostly artists. We have small towns that the people living there craft the same things that was made 150 years ago and we have towns for high tech design and technology. We have everything and more. Crime is not that bad. We still park and walk. We have some lakes but water is not that big here. We are not part of Mexico and most illegal try to get eslewhere. Don't let crime be that big a factor.

I have a casita in Corrales, a suburb of ABQ. I love NM. The climate is great most of the year, a little breezy in the spring. The dryness makes temps seem more moderate. You can wear shirtsleeves in the 50 degree weather-if the wind is not bad.

Finally finding other quilters in Albuquerque. Maybe we can all meet sometime.
