Kansas City Regional Quilt Fest

The 2nd Biannual Kansas City Regional Quilt Fest is scheduled for June 15-17, 2017 at the Overland Park Convention Center, O.P., KS. This is a huge quilt show that is put on by 15 sponsoring local guilds. These guilds have done all the work (with the exception of setting up the quilt display standards!). Truly a quilt show for quilters, by quilters!

There are 135 vendors booked with a lengthy waiting list; over 800 quilts total, including each guild having some display space and also judged quilts; there are special collections, including Gwen Marston's quilts.
And at least 32 teachers teaching a variety of classes starting on Wed afternoon, June 14. Also there are demonstrations.

Four hotels in the immediate area of the Convention Center have special rates.

go to KCRQG's website www.kcrqf.com to get all the details. (and for those of you coming into town from any distance--Mo. Star Quilt Co. in Hamilton, MO is only about 1 1/2hr drive from the convention center--all 4 lane hwy!

Glad you posted this so I can mark my calendar. I have been to the show before and really enjoy it so I want to go this year. I have missed it in the past by not knowing about it so good know. This is a fun show and I enjoy seeing others quilts. I haven't ever been to one of the really big quilt shows and this one in KC is big enough for me. It does get crowded.

This sounds like a HUGE event. It might be worth a 9 hr drive!

More info on the Kansas City Regional Quilt Fest--the classes are now posted to the website and will open to general public on Jan 18 (15 sponsoring guilds have preview window). T-shirts are available, admissions, and the cute hexie shaped pin! And more and more vendors are being added--check out their Face Book page or the website. And 3 or 4 hotels withing EASY walking distance have special room rates --if you attend, stop by the Miami Co. Quilters Guild boutique booth and say hi! Nancy

check out the classes--they will open to the general public on Jan 18--some great classes and the prices are not outrageous. Seems there are more this time for sit down quilters or those that use their DSM. And if you are interested in entering a quilt into the judged portion of the Quilt Fest the window for entry is March 1-31.

Hope to see you there!

latest update on the Kansas City Regional Quilt Fest--there are 135 vendors with 30 on the waiting list, over 3,500 people have signed up for classes but only one class is full--so plenty of space! At least 2 special collections, quilt displays from all sponsoring guilds (15), judged quilts (entries open March 1) and added space for you to take a breather, grab something to eat and relax and recharge! Also new this year is a larger demonstration space. I'm trying to track down the link for you to get pre-sale tickets for groups. You can sign up for classes, purchase pins, t's and admission at the website of www.kcrqf.com and avoid lines.

Also, the show, which is at the Overland Park Convention Center (and the Sheraton, Marriott Courtyard and 2 other hotels are offering reduced rates--check the website) is only about 90 min. south of Hamilton, MO--home of Missouri Star Quilt Co. so great "quilt" vacation!

I just found out today that any group that orders 10 or more pre-sale tickets can avoid the ticket lines and save $2/ticket for the KCRQF. go to www.kcrqf.com and click on the classes--which takes you to the merchandise and admissions. If you have any questions the person to contact is Sandi at [email protected] I'm really getting excited for this show--getting brave enough to enter a quilt in the judged portion (yikes!)and working on one for the display case challenge--again yikes! Hope to see you there!
