I hope to move to the area next year. I have been checking out the area. My son moved there this year and we hope to retire there next year. They live in Fairfield Harbor.
Anyone want to share in the about the area? |
I'm in Valdese NC. We are just off of I-40 between Hickory and Morganton.

I live in Havelock, North Carolina. It is about 18 miles from New Bern. Be advised there is no fabric stores in the area. The closest one is in Greenville, which is about 45 minutes away. That is a Hobby Lobby. The Walmart store in Morehead City has some fabric, but that is about it. Other then that ypu should love the area. I have been here for 30 years.

I am in Leland NC,about 2 hrs south of New Bern. I used to live in Jacksonville NC, which is about an hour south of New Bern. In Jacksonville, there are a couple of quilting shops, 2 WalMarts, one of which still sells fabric. I have been to New Bern many times. Pretty little town.
Now I do remember a fabric store in New Bern. In fact, I just got one of their flyers in the mail two days ago. It is called, New Bern Fabric Center. They are located at 1218 S Glenburnie Rd. It has been awhile since I have been to their shop, but they do have nice quilting fabrics. I almost forgot about the New Bern shop, and then I remembered the flyer. |

I love to teach sewing and quilting. I have also taught knitting, crocheting and embroidery of all kinds when I was younger I had my own yarn shop but could not handle it with my kids and I was in a small town not enough money to be made. I miss it so. I would love to volunteer if I could aford to do that. I also love working with kids and have taught them also. I am hoping the Lord will open some doors for me to use the gifts He has given me. Cathy I almost forgot about the New Bern shop, and then I remembered the flyer. |
I went to the Fabric Center, last week. The are expensive. I did end up buying some fabric, because I found the colors I needed. There is also The Fabric MIll Outlet or Mill Outlet Village. I had been there several years ago, but did not like the shop. When I went there last week it had changed a lot. I was surprised. They have a lot of nice fabric and reasonable prices. They even have 90" backing fabric. It is so nice you could use it for the front, and it's only $5.98 a yard. Have made two trips there in the last week. I thing I have found my fabric store. They have a varity of fleese, flannel, cotton, ect. I love the place. It is located on Martin Luther Kink Jr. Blvd/Hwy 17.
