And here I am in the Lynchburg/Bedford/Smith Mountain Lake area, also too far from you for a regular meeting group. There is a QBee group from here that goes up to Harrisonburg area a couple times a year for a workshop and retreat weekend, just finished for the spring. We stay with a couple of members there, but there are also nice hotels nearby if you are interested for the future.

Jan in VA

I'm in Cumberland, what do you have in mind? I have looked for the past 3 years for a group (or anyone wanting to get together maybe once a month) but no one here that I know of quilts so I sort of gave up looking.

I feel your frustration . . .

If you are in Midlothian on RT 60 you would head towards Powhattan, then on into Cumberland. I'm about 50 miles out of Midlothian

I always say this but it bears repeating. Google quilting guilds in VA or sewing centers near your area.

sherian 05-21-2013 04:31 PM

It would take about one and a half hours for me to get to Cumberland. Or you here.

sherian 05-21-2013 04:36 PM

go to All brands sew & Vac, they have great classes and help, they are a babylock dealer.
I go to Jo Jo's some ! I went to one quilting guilds, I think it was to much for me till I get better.
Thanks so much!

I belong to a group, Friendship Quilter (part of Richmond quilt guild) that meets every third Saturday in Glen Allen at a church. I live about 1 1/5 hour south west of there.

I'm in Lunenburg county, and our son lives in cumberland. He is the assistant park manager at bear creek park. I understand there is a group that meets in Farmville.

I'm 5 minutes from Bear Creek so I might know him. LOL I will see if I can find out about the one in Farmville but I've been looking for about 3 years and haven't found it yet. Do you know the name of it?or someone that is a member?

I'm in the Piecemakers. In Mechanicsville, VA Just out of Richmond. Did you know about the Richmond Quilters Guild?
Here is the website http://www.richmondquiltguild.com/index.htm Look at the chapter info. I'm also a member of Crazy Quilters as you can belong to more than one chapter. The Piecemakers Chapter also has a "Sit and Stitch" each Thursday, 1 - 4pm. Meetings alternate between the new Mechanicsville Library (1st, 3rd and 5th) and the Atlee Library (2nd and 4th) Thursday. So today we will be meeting at the Mechanicsville Library. You're more than welcome to join us.
