March Show in Lancaster, Pa

Can anyone advise is this is worth a drive & overnight stay? TY

I go to the show with my daughter, we stay for three days. The show is OK, not my favorite, but any opportunity to go to Burkholder's, Sauder's, and Zooks- and we go.

When in March is it? My brother and fav SIL live in Downingtown, PA and I love to visit Lancaster when there. Might have to schedule a visit - from OKLA.

If it is at the time of the really big Lancaster show, then worth it. There are three this year. The downtown show by American Quilters Association. One back (but smaller) at the Host and then the vendors at the Continental Hotel across the street.

I have been going for many years - mostly to meet up with friends. And We have a blast. We all love seeing all the beautiful quilts and visiting all the shops. And having several shows makes it all the more fun.

Last year I spent a full day at the AQS show held in downtown Lancaster at the convention center. Then the next day I spent about half-a-day at the two shows at the Host and the Continental. I enjoyed visiting all three sites.

The dates are March 14th - 17th.

I'm heading up there this year for a few classes, shopping and ideas. It's my favorite area show.

Hi,

I live on Long Island and looking for someone to go to the show with....I am willing to pay for gas expenses!

I have never been to a quilt show but 4 of us are going to the Lancaster Quilt Show. We are staying for 2 nights. We went to hotwire.com and got reservations. Each of us are paying $50.00 for 2 nights. Can't beat $25.00 per night. It is at the Wyndam.

are all four of you staying in one room?

Oh, I love to go to anything quilty! I've heard about Lancaster from one of my friends. I hope whoever goes, that they have a great time!

Is anyone going from Long Island NY that would like a buddy to go with? Private message me and we can work something out to share a ride....

jackiemc 02-03-2012 09:54 AM

Yes, all 4 of us are staying in 1 room, 2 king size beds. One of the girls got on the hotwire website. When you plug in the info they want and you make the reservation with a credit card they then told us what hotel it would be. We were satified with the hotel because we have one near us. I suppose you could cancel out if you wouldn't want the one they picked.

It is a fantastic show! I average a trip to Lancaster almost every month. Since I live south of Pittsburgh, I can make that drive within 2.5 hours roughly. SSShhhh, don't tell the police. I love helping people who attend the quilt show, letting them know some "secrets" and "treasures" in the Lancaster area. From food, to sites, to entertainment, and best of all quilt shops! Happy to give advice for anyone attending the first time. Contact me off the list. Safe travels to all who are going!

Do you know how far Amtrack stops from Lancaster? Please send me a list. Thanks!

YES it is absolutely worth it. Between the 3 shows and the area shops you can see hundreds of quilts and thousands of fabrics.
I'd hit WEAVER'S DRY GOODS and visit the warehouse out back for super deals.

Yes this is well worth it. There is actually 3 shows. Convention center in the middle of Lancaster and then the two at the Host's on Rt. 30 accross from one another. The convention center one is the big show. I went to it for the first time last year and totally enjoyed it and I know anyone that goes to them will do the same . So get ready pack up and go and enjoy yourself.

For about 7 or 8 years I would go with a friend and we stayed 4 days but the show took a back seat to lots of shopping (Zooks and Sauders are favorites) and hanging with quilting pals from different states. Arthritis in my knees keeps me from going for 4 days but I will be there Friday and Sat, can't miss our group's Show and Tell on Friday night.

I didn't care of the show moving from Host Farms to the town of Lancaster, having to pay for parking at outskirts of town and also pay for the jitny ride to the show at the Marriot are downers but I have to say at the Marriot there were plenty of chairs for us older quilters to sit and rest on.
