Hi all, Started this topic so we can keep all the information in one spot. I was getting confused jumping around the threads. LOL

We are planning some Michigan Get-togethers. All the excursions are open to all board members. If you are visiting Michigan from out of town when we have an outing, by all means please join us. By meeting in different cities around the state we are hoping to make gatherings more convenient. By posting here on the board we are hoping to encourage member get-togethers in different areas and give us a chance to meet, share, and make new friends. It's always fun to put a face with a name. I won't be able to make all the get-togethers but will be at the ones I can. Maybe some of our Ohio and Indiana friends can make some gatherings, too.

Craftybear is coordinating October 19th in Shipshewanna, Indiana. Let her know if you plan on going and she will add your name to her list. We are trying to get a carpool together for Michiganders going.

Does this sounds like a plan for October or early November:
Meet at Creative Quilt Kits - 8599 W. Grand River, Brighton
(this is where raspberryparade09 works)
Next stop will be Monarch Quilts between Brighton and Howell (2100 Grand River Annex, Brighton)

We can have lunch at: Grand River Grill, 2394 Genoa Business Park Dr, Brighton
It is just before Monarch Quilt shop by PDQ printers. It has a green roof and large windows.

Then we take off to:
The Stitchery, 1129 East Grand River Avenue, Howell
Wendy's Simple Stitches, 1122 Pinckney Rd./S. Michigan Ave, Howell
There's also a wonderful little shop in Pinckney, if we have time:
Jennifer's Quilt Shop, 149 N Howell St.

We need to pick a date.
Remember the 19th is the Shipshewanna day trip and Oct. 9 - 16th is not good for Creative Quilts Kits. Keeping these dates in mind, what is a good date for everyone? Does the 26 (Tue) or 30 (Sat) of October sound possible?

Grammo013 is looking into a MI retreat for us also. She will give us more info as she gets it.

Hope I remembered everything. If not, please fill in the blanks. Thanks, Kathy

Thanks for starting this thread. It will be great to meet in person some of those we have only met online.

Thought I'd pass along a couple of things that Country Stitches is doing. Oct 15-16 is the 2010 Embroidery Party in E. Lansing and on Nov 9-10 (E. Lansing) Nov 11-12 (Jackson) Betty Cotton will be holding a workshop making an item each day using her method. I have taken her classes before and it is amazing. It's a little pricy but well worth it. I found it harder to try to learn from the book but I'm much better if I actually see something done than just reading it. Hope this isn't considered hijacking the thread. If anyone wants more info, PM me or go to Country Stitches website. Thanks.

Hi Sunkistmi,
No hijacking here - it's for everyone. Please continue to share any and all info. If anyone wants to get a group together to go you can do it here if you want. This thread is for everyone. Glad you posted and thanks for sharing.

After the Brighton event, we are planning a day going to Bay City: Fabric Fair, the antique shops, the candy store and lunch. Stay tuned for more info.

I made an error in the dates that are bad for Creative Quilt Kits, the correct ones are Oct. 9 - 16th.. Sorry - hope this doesn't cause to much confusion. We will be short staffed that week, so another time would be better. Also your line-up of stores is great. They are all in a straight line, and from CQK to Wendy's is not much more than 10 miles - sooo alot of fabric in a short distance! FYI - the restraunt is between CQK and Monarch.

Hi Kathy, I will be gone out of state at the end of October and beginning of November so those dates won't work for me. BUT go ahead I am sure we will be planning get togethers again every so often and there will always be somebody that the dates won't work for. I am planning on going to Shipshewanna so I will get to meet some of you there. Thanks Kathy for planning this. Emmy

Hi Everyone,

Please plan your meet and greets, so much fun, I just met with 7 other members on September 7th in Shipshewana, Indiana and we had a blast

3 from Indiana
2 from Michigan
1 from Ohio
1 from Montana
1 from New Jersey

I also posted a thread that we are planning on another one for Tuesday, October 19th, in Shipshewana, Indiana!

I found another quilt shop only 10 miles from Shipshewana that we can also visit! in Middlebury, Indiana (Essenhaus, nice amish restaurant, cool shops and lots of fun)
