We will be taking a trip up the California Coast from Fresno up, does anyone know of any quilt shops that I should visit?

I will be watching this thread as we are on the road to CA for a wedding. However, we'll be in the LA area with a stop in Lodi on the way back to the midwest.

Cloth and Quilts in Turlock is great and I believe the FQs are on a huge sale. Go check it out

Great shops in Brea, CA -- Upland, CA -- and the Fabric Patch which is right near the one in Upland and the city starts with an "M" but can't remmeber. Great shop in Chico.

My suggestion is to go on line and "google" the towns you'll be by and go from there but I'd give each of them a call before to make sure they're still there and at the same address.

The Quilter's Travel Companion is a great book to have if you travel much.

How far north are you heading?

If you get to Laytonville, stop at the Fat Quail. It's a cute little shop right on 101.

In Eureka we have Scottie Dog and Ocean Waves.

If you are going thru Monterey the LQS "The Back Porch" in Pacific Grove is awesome.

If you are going to be in Lodi and are going thru Calif on Hwy 99 you should stop at "Fields of Fabric" in a little town called Ceres it is right off the fwy. Ceres is about 30 minutes south of Lodi.

There is a shop in Atascadero, CA, called the quilters cupboard. It is incredible, also another shop in Morro Bay can't remember the name, also back porch fabrics in pacific grove. Depending on how far up you are going. I know you mentioned Lodi, well Antioch is only about 30 minutes from there and there is a wonderful quilt shop called Queen B, I'm partial to that shop cause I live in Oakley and it's my favorite place to go to. Have a safe and wonderful trip

I think the shop in Morro Bay is the Cotton Ball. There are a lot of shops in the San Luis Obispo, Atascadero, Pismo Beach area. Check the yellow pages online.

Lodi has a small quilt shop. I think it's on Lodi Avenue. You may want to check it out if you are there anyway. I believe Manteca, just south of Lodi also has a quilt shop, maybe two. They do a wonderful quilt show every March and have a very active guild. Stockton, between Manteca and Lodi, has Quilters Quarters. As we all know, times are hard and some of these may have closed. I've been to the one in Lodi recently with my mom, so that one is still open! Hope this helps.

Not even close to the coast BUT if you make it all the way to Sacramento I'd recommend Bear Paws and Hollyhocks on El Camino Ave. Lovely store with real friendly staff.
