It's a chat type program. You can either type to other people, use voice and or video to communicate. Try googling Skype. Sorry I'm not good at explaining.

robin your explanation is great. basic program, fun ...when i was having electrical storm here locally recently, the sound was bad but image fine, so my bff in holland & i in western USA just kept the image going and used the keyboard ...hubs came in from work to sounds of me giggling here in the dark.

as familiar as i am w skype and chat tho, i was not aware that we could visit in groups on skype. set up a group like once able to on ICQ or MS, YAHOO ??

it would be very interesting to meet other quilter and share ideas
