Hi,
I'll be traveling to Charlotte NC and wondered if anyone could recommend a quilt shop anywhere on the path from Knoxville, TN to Charlotte, NC?

Looks like I'll be on I-75 then I-26.

I don't know of any off the top of my head but if you do a search for "fabric stores in Tenn" and one for fabric stores in NC you'll find a bunch.

Mary Jo's in Gastonia just west of Charlotte, look on their website for directions maryjos.com

yes there's mary jo's....it is worth going out of your way for! Then while you are there you can go to long creek mills for thread. I think its just around the corner. In Charlotte there is QBee Quilts. Its a small store but they are very nice. Its in the Ayrsley area. I don't venture into Charlotte city much (too much traffic) but I know there is one in Indian Trail that is supposed to be nice.

yes, Mary Jo's is a MUST. She has everything and a bit loweer in price. At one time there was a remnent ship in Monroe NC. Havn't been there in many years. If convenient is might be worth finding. It is just off the route from Charlotte south and about a block west.
But get to Mary Jo's.

Do you remember anything else about where it was? Everything has grown so much and so many new roads....

Here is a list of all the shops in the Charlotte area - unless I haven't found some. There are also several shops in Hendersonville and Asheville area off I-26. That's a whole day trip for me.

This is the only one that I've been to in Asheville and it's been a while, but I remember that they had a great selection and great prices. Foam and Fabrics Outlet, http://www.fabrics4you.com/home.html

Mary Jo's is at the Cox Rd. exit off I-85, I think it's exit 21, but don't quote me on it. If you are coming from the south, go to the right at the top of the exit. If you are coming from the north, turn left at the light at the top of the ramp. The shopping center is just at the exit on your right after you come off the ramp. Feel free to pm me if you need more help.

I'm heading there on either Wed or Thur. Just found out hubby has an extra day off this week so he's going with me to see what we can find. Your question in most timely!! Thanks

trugger 07-07-2010 06:09 PM

Thanks to everyone!
I did indeed go to Maryjo's and bought a bunch!

The best part, tho, was that my pal and I unknowingly left the lights on in the car and it was dead when we wanted to leave.

One of the gals cutting fabric for Maryjo's was gracious and gave us a jump.

Great store, great employees...

I am so pleased you enjoyed Mary Jos, one of my very favourite places to be. She herself is adorable!!
