My family is going to New Orleans over the Labor Day weekend. I've never been there before. I'm coming from the East (Florida). Which quilt shops should I make an effort to try to see in the New Orleans-area?

Thanks, in advance.

Hey Ethel,

I haven't been to any shops in New Orleans but we have a great one in Lafayette, LA if you ever decide to come this far west. The name of it is the Borne Quilter. They have a website if you want to check it out.

I am not absolutely positive, but I think New Orleans only quilt shop closed a few years back. There is one in Abita Springs (just N. of Abita hwy 59, not I-59), one in Mandeville, one close to Hammond and a few in Baton Rouge.

I may be mistaken, but I will ask around.

I don't know about quilt shops but I love the French Quarter. :-0

Hi, our once only Quilt Shop (Scrap Happy) closed in May. But 2 new shops have opened in New Orleans: Mes Ames in the Lake Vista area of New Orleans, and the Quilted Owl in Jefferson a suburb of New Orleans. 2 shops are across Lake Pontchatrain (about a 30 drive from New Orleans) one in Abita Springs and one in Mandeville. The one in Abita is closed on saturday but I think both of the one in New Orleans might be opened.
Welcome and enjoy your trip.
