Hi
Do we have any quilters here from Yuma. We will be snowbirding in Yuma again this winter. I would like to know if Walmart still has a fabric section. I know the foothills one doesn't carry fabric.

PS. Any along I5. Wash., Oregon or Cal.

I am not from Yuma but we go there in the winter and there is a nice quilt shop in that center by Albertsons on 32nd and I think 4th Ave called the Log Cabin they also have open sewing there or they did last winter

Hi Dodie,
Thank you for letting me know about the open sewing. I found that store just before we left last year. I am on their mailing list.
Right now I'm working on a GFG. I bought an off white (3 yrds.) at Walmart. I though I'd never use, of course the pattern calls for 4.5 yds. I doubt I'll ever match it. LOL.
So where do you stay while there. We rent a private lot off foothills.

We are not sure what we will do this year we do not have reservations so around the 1st of Oct. I am going to check the websites and see what I can find we had thought about
a private lot but the ones we found wanted long term and we only want to stay for 2 months we have stayed at Sundance and the one I really liked is Sun Ridge but you have to stay 5months but if you check in with those RV parks you can sew in most all of them on the days they sew I went to quite a few of them most every thing they have is open except their swimming pools but if you check at their office they will let you know

My mother lives in the foothills region of Yuma ( year around ) and had a friend who belonged to a quilting group. That friend has moved, which doesn't help you, except to say that yes, there are groups out there and I'm sure if you check with the fabric store you mentioned they can help you get lined up.

The Marysville, WA Wal Mart has a small fabric section that they kept after the TV/Electronics section took over the back of the store! As you go south on I-5, it's on the west (right) side of the freeway. There's the Seattle Premium Outlets, the Tulalip Casino/Resort, Home Depot and then Wal Mart. Take either exit 202 (116th St.) to get there or exit 199 (88th St.) to go directly to WM. I'm not sure what all fabrics they have but hope you find what you want. Wish I could get my husband to winter in AZ but he's not into leaving here--no matter how much rain or snow we get!!

I'm not in Arizona, Ca, Or, or Washington, but I am in Nevada, an hour OUTSIDE of Las Vegas, in the very rural town of Pahrump. I love to talk about everything quilting: hand, machine, traditional, crazy, just everything, winter, summer, all year 'round. Send me a pm anytime, or just talk here. Nice to meet you!

The Walmart in Pahrump still carries fabric. There are 5 places I know of in Las Vegas that have fabric: Quiltique, , 2 Jo-Anns, and 2 places in Henderson: Fiddlesticks & a new place, Sew Obsesed.

Quilty hugs,
Debi
