I'm headed to Virginia Beach to visit my grandchildren! I'm taking a little Hello Kitty sewing machine by Janome to my granddaughter as a surprise. Does anyone know of any quilt shops or fabric stores for me to visit while I am there? I'm sure Olivia will want to have new fabric to sew with on her new machine.

My brother lives in Virginia Beach! If you see him, tell him Hi! for me! I bet your GD will be thrilled with the new sewing machine, and the added bonus of getting to go shopping with grandma and getting new material. What a treat!!! How old is she?

What's Your Stitch'n Stuff on Kempsriver Dr,
The Quilting Bee on Battlefield Blvd in Chesapeake
Sew E-Z on Airline Blvd in Portsmouth
Addicted Quilter on Academy Ave. in Portsmouth
A Different Touch on S. Military Highway in Chesapeake
I know there are a couple more, but that's all I remember off the top of my head.

She will be 7 in September. Over Easter Break I tested her abilities and desire to quilt and she completed a baby quilt and was very proud. So now I'm surprising her with her own machine! I will tell your brother hi!

You are very sweet to teach your GD to sew and get her her first sewing machine. Your GD is a very lucky little girl! My Grandma taught me and I loved her very much for it! And Thank you for passing the message to my brother.

Fabric Hut on Little Creek Road in Norfolk is my favorite. Here's a website for the local guild that lists the local quilt shops with websites, addresses and such. Hope it helps:
